Presentación: Del dominó y otras experiencias de vida
Hola. Me llamo Antonio. Qué manera tan original de comenzar a hablar de uno mismo, con el nombre. Bueno, comencemos por decir que a mis 57 años de edad y en la condición física en que me encuentro tengo pocos entretenimientos. Actualmente, estoy en silla de ruedas debido a una fractura que sufrí al caerme en el baño de mi casa. Pero ésa es otra historia, muy infortunada, por cierto. Pero retomemos el hilo. Uno de mis pocos entretenimientos es jugar dominó en un sitio Web que se llama Ludoteka o con un juego que (no recuerdo cómo) instalé en mi PC. Acabo de reunir suficiente fuerza de voluntad para dejar de jugar dominó (por supuesto, no sin antes terminar la partida) y ponerme a escribir acerca de mí.
Me queda poco tiempo ahorita porque a las 3:00 tengo una clase de inglés. Por cierto, doy clases de inglés online y presenciales, si vienes a mi casa.
Lo cierto es que no sólo quería hablar de mi afición al dominó, que me trae muy buenos recuerdos. Por ejemplo, las tantas noches que después de regresar de mi trabajo, un amigo y compadre mío o algún vecino venía a casa y jugábamos con ellos, mi papá y yo, y a veces también mi mamá o mi hermana. Jugábamos, bebíamos, seguramente comíamos, y a veces hasta cantábamos. En fin…
Recuerdo que fui bastante feliz durante mi infancia y adolescencia. Pero, sin duda, mi mejor época fue durante mis años en la universidad. Tardé ocho años en terminar la carrera (dos me retrasé por mi culpa y otro por una huelga universitaria), pero los viví intensamente. Además de estudiar Traducción e Interpretación (inglés y alemán), viví miles de experiencias durante esos años: Participé en dos excelentes talleres literarios de los cuales surgió una revista que se llamó “Exilio”. Ese taller y todas esas vivencias fueron algo que realmente me abrió “las puertas del mundo” (como diría Silvia, mi novia de aquel entonces). Yo participé con varios poemas y un par de cuentos.
Pero lo mejor de todo ocurrió en el año 1988 cuando me gané una beca para hacer un curso internacional de verano en Würzburg, Alemania. Allí, conocí muchísima gente de mi edad y otros con más años, bebí diferentes tipos de cerveza y vino, y enriquecí mi alemán.
Durante el curso, hubo varias excursiones o paseos programados por la misma universidad. Uno de esos paseos fue a una ciudad (no recuerdo el nombre) que quedaba cerca de la frontera con lo que era la República Democrática Alemana (DDR). Pese a que nos advirtieron que no nos acercáramos mucho porque desde donde estábamos se podía ver la cerca divisoria con garitas y soldados, yo le pedí a mi compañera de viaje venezolana que me tomara una foto “para la historia” tocando un hito que marcaba la frontera. Ella se atrevió a pisar suelo de la otra Alemania y la tomó. Ahí la dejo para que la vean.
Después de la universidad
Sencillamente, la vida continuó. Comencé a trabajar, me casé y tuve una hija. Yo escogí su nombre: Valentina, Ella tiene ahora 23 años (va con el siglo, este año cumple 24) y vive en Canadá. Nos mantenemos en contacto y a veces me envía fotos de ella y su gato. Por supuesto la extraño mucho y nos comunicamos por WhatsApp. ¡Vean en la foto lo gordita que está!
Pero creo que aquí debo hablar más bien sobre mi vida profesional y por qué quiero publicar en Hive. He pasado por muchísimos empleos haciendo diversas cosas en el área de los idiomas: traductor, intérprete, editor (textos), corrector, escritor para medios de comunicación, y últimamente trabajo como copywriter. Tengo que admitir que extraño mi trabajo de oficina. Era en un organismo internacional con sede en Caracas, pero el 4 de febrero de 2022 fui forzado (no se puede decir de otra manera) a renunciar. Reconozco que guardo bastante resentimiento con esa decisión del organismo, pero eso ya es agua pasada, como dicen.
Yo en lo que fue mi oficina.
Actualmente, estoy buscando una manera de monetizar mis conocimientos y mis poemas, sobre todo. Y por eso me llamó la atención. Por otra parte, para mí es una manera de distraer mi mente y no pensar en lo deprimente que es vivir sin poder caminar con mis dos piernas, sin andadera ni muletas. Quisiera también expandir mis redes sociales y aunque sea virtualmente conocer e interactuar con otras personas.
Por supuesto, si encuentro otras maneras de hacer dinero online, las aprovecharé. A pesar de todas las circunstancias adversas que enfrento, siento que no debo dejarme vencer y luchar hasta el final, como diría Freddie Mercury (“And we´ll keep on fighting ´till the end”, en We are the champions).
La cara oculta
Todo el mundo tiene su “lado oscuro” o “cara oculta”, como la Luna. A mí me encantan los videos y relatos que encuentro en Internet sobre esoterismo, astrología y esos temas arcanos. Es una manera de explorarse y lograr una mayor comprensión de uno mismo. Por cierto, he visto últimamente bastantes videos sobre errores en la matrix, y justamente jugando dominó en Ludoteka (online), me topé con uno, del cual les coloco el capture:
A mí, en lo personal, esas historias y videos que veo en Internet, me parecen de lo más asombrosas y, aunque algunas obviamente son trucadas, siempre dejan qué pensar y lo dejan a uno dudando y cuestionándose si en verdad el mundo es real o es una simulación o quizás un juego mental de algún ser superior (concepto de “Dios”).
Bueno, si nos ponemos “esotéricos”, yo tuve mi época bien heavy cuando era joven, y sí creo en que debe haber algún otro plano astral, un espacio como ese mundo de los sueños. Me refiero al sueño de cuando uno duerme. ¡Tantas cosas que uno sueña!
Sólo espero que cuando muera sea de forma indolora. No hablemos del suicidio (tengo mis propias opiniones al respecto). Lo único que yo pido es que sea una muerte rápida y sin dolor. Debe existir otro plano astral, sea como sea. Anyway, que sea lo que Dios quiera.
Dato curioso, según calcula la IA, “la próxima vez que habrá luna llena un año bisiesto un 29 de febrero será en el año 2040”. ¿Todavía estaré vivo para esa fecha?
Ya sé que pensarán que no soy adivino y hablo mucho de la muerte. Sí. Las dos últimas veces que, aunque yo no recuerdo nada, dicen que “estuve” cerca de morir, la única persona que fue mi apoyo incondicional (y a veces pareciera extra-humano), fue Rosa, mi pareja-novia-esposa y demás, como la quieras describir. Rosi y yo hemos pasado experiencias muy buenas, como la vez que viajamos a México, por ejemplo (no sé si tengo fotos de ese viaje o cómo recuperarlas). Ahora no estamos pasando una buena situación. Sencillamente, o sea, de manera sencilla, vamos solucionando…
En este alucinante y aciago túnel, he de reconocer, Rosi ha sido la luz, la fuerza motora.
Esperemos entonces por lo menos un resplandor que señale el final del túnel sin importar tanto los vaticinios de la IA sobre el 2040.

Presentation: On dominoes and other life experiences
Hello, my name is Antonio. What an original way to start talking about yourself, with your name. Well, let's start by saying that at 57 years of age and in the physical condition in which I find myself, I have little entertainment. I am currently in a wheelchair due to a fracture I suffered when I fell in my bathroom at home. But that's another story, a very unfortunate one, indeed. But let's get back to the thread. One of my few entertainments is playing dominoes on a website called Ludoteka or with a game that (I don't remember how) I installed on my PC. I just mustered enough willpower to stop playing dominoes (of course, not before finishing the game) and start writing about myself.
I have little time left right now because at 3:00 I have an English class. By the way, I give English classes online and in person, if you come to my house.
The truth is that I not only wanted to talk about my love for dominoes, which brings back very good memories. For example, the many nights that after returning from work, a friend and compadre of mine or a neighbor would come home and we would play with them, my dad and I, and sometimes also my mom or my sister. We would play, drink, surely eat some snacks, and sometimes even sing. Anyway...
I remember that I was quite happy during my childhood and adolescence. But, undoubtedly, my best time was during my college years. I took eight years to finish my career (I failed two of them and I lost another one because of a university strike), but I lived them intensely. Besides studying Translation and Interpreting (English and German), I lived thousands of experiences during those years: I participated in two excellent literary workshops from which a magazine called "Exilio" was born. That workshop and all those experiences were something that really opened "the doors of the world" (as Silvia, my girlfriend at that time, would say). I participated with several poems and a couple of short stories.
But the best of all happened in 1988 when I won a scholarship to participate in an international summer course in Würzburg, Germany. There, I met a lot of people my age and older, drank different kinds of beer and wine, and enriched my German.
During the course, there were several excursions or field trips programmed by the university itself. One of those trips was to a town (I don't remember the name) that was near the border with what was the German Democratic Republic (DDR, as it was known in German). Although we were warned not to get too close because from where we were we could see the dividing fence with sentry boxes and soldiers, I asked my Venezuelan travel companion to take a picture of me "for history" touching a milestone that marked the border. She dared to step on the soil of the other Germany and shot the photo. I leave it here for you to see.
After college
Life just went on. I started working, got married and had a daughter. I chose her name: Valentina. She is now 23 years old (going along with century, she turns 24 this year) and lives in Canada. We keep in touch and sometimes she sends me pictures of her and her cat. Of course, I miss her very much and we communicate via WhatsApp, see in the picture how chubby she is!
But I think here I should rather talk about my professional life and why I want to publish in Hive. I have been through a lot of jobs doing different things in the field of languages: translator, interpreter, editor (texts), proofreader, writer for the media, and lately I have been working as a copywriter. I have to admit that I miss my office job. It was in an international organization based in Caracas, but on 4 February 2022 I was forced (can't say otherwise) to resign. I admit that I harbor a lot of resentment with that decision of the organization, but that's water under the bridge, as they say.

At present, I am looking for a way to monetize my knowledge and my poems, especially. And that's why Hive caught my attention. On the other hand, for me it is a way to distract my mind and not think about how depressing it is to live without being able to walk with my two legs, without a walker or crutches. I would also like to expand my social networks and at least virtually meet and interact with other people.
Of course, if I find other ways to make money online, I will take advantage of them. Despite all the adverse circumstances I face, I feel I must not give up and fight to the end, as Freddie Mercury would say ("And we'll keep on fighting 'till the end", in We are the champions).
The dark side
Everyone has their "dark side" or "hidden side", like the moon. I love the videos and stories I find on the Internet about esotericism, astrology and those arcane subjects. It's a way to explore oneself and gain a greater understanding of oneself. By the way, I have seen many videos lately about errors in the matrix, and just playing dominoes in Ludoteka (online), I came across one, of which I post the capture:
Personally, I find these stories and videos that I see on the Internet to be most amazing and, although some are obviously tricked, they always leave you wondering and questioning if the world is really real or if it is a simulation or perhaps a mind game of some superior being (concept of "God").
Well, if we get "esoteric", I had my very heavy experiences when I was young, and I do believe that there must be some other astral plane, a space like that world of dreams. I mean the dream of when one sleeps – so many things that one dreams!
I just hope that when I die it will be painless. Let's not talk about suicide (I have my own opinions on that subject). All I ask is that it be a quick and painless death. There must be another astral plane, be that as it may. At any rate, may God decide.
A curious piece of information: as calculated by the AI, "the next time there will be a full moon in a leap year on February 29 will be in the year 2040". Will I still be alive for that date?
I know you will think that I am not a fortune teller and I talk a lot about death. Yes. The last two times that, although I don't remember anything, they say that I "was" close to dying, the only person who was my unconditional support (and sometimes it seemed extra-human), was Rosa, my partner-girlfriend-wife and so on, however you want to describe her. Rosi and I have had very good experiences, like the time we traveled to Mexico, for example (I don't know if I still have pictures of that trip or how to recover them). Now we are not having a good time. In a nutshell, that is to say, we live in a simple way, we just push through life by solving one problema at a time...
In this hallucinating and fateful tunnel – I must admit – Rosi has been the light, the driving force.
So let's hope for at least a glimmer of light to signal the end of the tunnel regardless of the AI's predictions about 2040.
