Encontré que el chirrido de las cigarras lo producen los machos, con membranas vibratorias llamadas timbales ubicadas en el primer segmento abdominal que se llenan de aire, provocando que se inflamen y desinflen, haciendo que el sonido fuerte sea característico de este animal.
I found that the grinding sound of cicadas is produced by males, with vibrating membranes called timpani located in the first abdominal segment that fill with air, causing them to become inflamed and deflated, making the loud sound characteristic of this animal.
Las cigarras pueden cantar desde 6 a 8 semanas que se cumple su ciclo.
