¿que son los bongos?

Los bongos son un instrumento de percusión afrocubano que consiste en un par de pequeños tambores de fondo abierto de diferentes tamaños. Como es común a el tambor más grande se llama hembra y macho al más pequeño .

Bongos are an Afro-Cuban percussion instrument consisting of a pair of
small open-bottom drums of different sizes.
As is common to the larger drum it is called female (Hembra)
and the smallest male (Macho)

Posición para tocar

Lo primero que se debe lograr al ejecutar un instrumento es estar con todo el cuerpo relajado, sin ningún tipo de tensión. Eso nos ayudara con el sonido, la velocidad, y comodidad al tocar.

The first thing to achieve when playing an instrument is to be with your whole body relaxed, without any tension. That will help us with sound, speed, and playing comfort.

Tomando en cuenta lo anterior vamos a tomar los bongos!! Se toca generalmente sentado en la punta del banco. Los bongos van entre las piernas, el cuerpo va un poco inclinado hacia adelante y con la espalda recta. hay quienes usan los bongos un poco doblados, con la hembra un poco mas arriba, eso de pende del gusto de cada quien.

The bongos go between the legs, the body is slightly inclined forward and with the back straight. Tipos de golpes

Hay varios golpes que debemos conocer en el instrumento para poder hacer diversos ritmos. Cada golpe tiene un sonido y una posición especifica en la mano.

There are several beats that we must know in the instrument to be able to make different rhythms. Each hit has a specific sound and position in the hand.

Golpe Abierto

Para lograrlo vamos a ubicar los en el aro la segunda falange de nuestros dedos. Y al momento de golpear la mano debe estar firme al igual que la muñeca.

To achieve this we are going to place the second phalanx of our fingers in the ring. And when hitting the hand it must be firm as well as the wrist.

Masacote

El masacote consta de 2 golpes, uno con la palma de la mano y otro con los dedos. este golpe se hacer mayormente con la mano izquierda y su posición puede variar según el tamaño de nuestra mano o por el tamaño del tambor. En mi caso, tengo las manos grandes, por eso debo sacar y meter la mano un poco para que no me quede afuera del tambor. lo importante es que los dos golpes se escuchen con la misma intensidad.

The masacote (so called in Spanish the blow technique) consists of 2 blows, one with the palm of the hand and the other with the fingers. This blow will be done mostly with the left hand and its position may vary depending on the size of our hand or the size of the drum. In my case, I have big hands, so I have to put my hand in and out a little so that I don't get out of the drum. the important thing is that the two blows are heard with the same intensity.

Golpes tapao

Para este golpe vamos a usar nuestras dos manos, una haciendo presión con la palma en el cuero y la otra golpeando firmemente

For this blow we are going to use our two hands, one pressing with the palm on the leather and the other striking firmly

Acá les dejo el ritmo martillo que combina todos los golpes que ya hemos visto. para un proximo post les explicare detalladamente como se hace.
