Poco después de empezar a caminar, llegamos al Ponte Vella de Martiñan (siglo XVII) que salva el rio Batan. Allí encontramos a Jesús que ha montado su pequeño puesto de artesanía. Está descalzo y paramos a ver lo que tiene. Nos gusta una concha que ha tallado en madera de boj y se la compramos. También nos llevamos unos pendientes hechos con conchitas. Hablamos con él de las dificultades que afronta la juventud actual. Me parece una persona mucho más sensata de lo que podíamos esperar por su aspecto.
La etapa de hoy es tan bonita como la de ayer. En algunas partes, discurre por espesos túneles de vegetación formados por altos castaños, robles, pinos y laureles entremezclados. Como hay humedad, crecen muchos helechos y enredaderas que trepan por los troncos de los árboles.
En otras partes, el paisaje es mas abierto. Hay cultivos de trigo y cebada, así como praderas dónde pasta el ganado.
Son poquísimos los peregrinos que hemos visto. Uno nos adelantó mientras hablábamos con Jesús y una pareja lo hizo en las calles de Vilalba.
Me extraña tan poquísima afluencia de peregrinos porque este camino es muy bonito, fácil y agradable. Me gusta porque transcurre en un mundo muy rural. Según nos comentó un lugareño, este Camino estaba cogiendo mucho auge pero se vino abajo con la pandemia. Le está costando recuperarse.
Estamos caminando por la Terra Chá (Tierra llana), la comarca más extensa de Galicia. Se encuentra en Lugo y hoy, partiendo de Martiñán nos disponemos a llegar a la capital, Vilalba.
De vez en cuando hay hortensias, también llamadas “flores de mundo”, que adornan el camino con sus grandes bolas de color azul.
En Gouriz hay una iglesia y un cementerio de estilo neogótico. Mañana veremos otro similar en San Juan de Alba.
Antes de entrar en Vilalba, paramos para tomar un café y sellar la credencial. El paquete de azúcar tiene un anuncio de una serie televisiva que se llama Rapa. Os la recomiendo. Nos gustó mucho. Tiene una estética parecida a Hierro. Rapa fue rodada y transcurre su argumento en una zona muy cercana a donde estamos. No es de extrañar que lo publiciten.
Después de ducharnos y descansar, fuimos a comer la tradicional Viera que tanto simboliza el Camino de Santiago. Estaba cocinada con vino Albariño, típico de la zona. Justo premio a nuestro esfuerzo.
Mañana más. Os espero para que caminemos juntos. Así que habrá que madrugar!
Walking through Terra Chá
Shortly after starting to walk we arrive at the Ponte Vella de Martiñan, from the 17th century, which crosses the Batan River. There we find Jesus who has set up his small craft stall. He is barefoot and we stop to see what he has on. We like a shell that he has carved out of boxwood and we buy it from him. We also got some earrings made with shells. We talked with him about the difficulties facing today's youth. He seems to me a much more sensible person than expected from the way he looks. A young man who is sitting in such a remote place that he lives in such an alternative way.
Today's stage is as beautiful as yesterday's. In some parts it runs through thick tunnels of vegetation made up of tall chestnut trees, oaks, pines and intermingled laurels. As there is humidity, many ferns and vines grow that climb the trunks of the trees.
In other parts, the landscape is more open. There are crops of wheat or barley, as well as meadows where cattle graze.
There are very few pilgrims that we have seen. One passed us while we were talking to Jesus and a couple did so in the streets of Vilalba.
I am surprised by such a small influx of pilgrims because this path is very beautiful, easy and pleasant. I like it because it takes place in a very rural world. According to what a local told us, this Camino was taking a lot of boom but it collapsed with the pandemic. He's having a hard time recovering.
We are walking through the Terra Chá (flat land), the largest region in Galicia. It is located in Lugo and today, starting from Martiñán, we are about to reach the capital, Vilalba.
From time to time there are hydrangeas, also called "world flowers", that adorn the path with their large balls the color blue.
In Gouriz there is a neo-gothic style church and cemetery. Tomorrow we will see another similar one in San Juan de Alba.
Before entering Vilalba, we stop to have a coffee and stamp the credential. The packet of sugar has an advertisement for a television series called Rapa. I recommend it to you. We liked it a lot. It has an Iron-like aesthetic. Rapa was shot and its argument takes place in an area very close to where we are. No wonder they advertise it.
After showering and resting, we went to eat the traditional Viera that symbolizes the Camino de Santiago so much. It was cooked with Albariño wine, typical of the area. Fair reward for our effort.
More tomorrow. I wait for you to walk together. So you have to get up early!

Hice las fotografías con mi iPhone X. Para la edición utilicé la aplicación Snapseed y para la firma digital usé la App Watermark.
Los dibujos los hice en el iPad con el programa Sketches.
For the photography I use my iPhone X. For edition I use the Snapseed application and for the digital signature the Watermark app.
Everything I did on my mobile phone, I did not use the computer at all.
For the drawings, I use the Sketches program and paint them on the tablet.
