Free Speech is

Hopefully this can be a short one. Obviously many essays are being written right now. If we just address a few points, better expectations can be set for those using Hive (and maybe I won't have to repeat myself so much in the Hive discord lol)

The right to free speech isn't something enjoyed in every country or platform. In the USA, free speech rights protect individuals from the government taking measure to cease their speech. It's fairly broad, not all-encompassing, and better than most

Facebook, Twitter, and Hive are not governments, and the "right to free speech" mentioned above is not really a factor unless the government takes them over and starts removing speech

"Centralized" media services such as Facebook and Twitter have the inclination, ability, and duty to police the speech on their platforms

"Decentralized" services like Hive provide a platform on which speech cannot be removed. The various services and websites that utilize Hive are still free to do as they wish with their apps and websites. While speech will be preserved on the Hive blockchain, it may or may not appear on d.buzz, ecency.com, hive.blog, leofinance... etc

Hive assures speech will be public, available, and immutable (can't be changed, edited, or deleted)

Let's clarify what free speech is not:

  • Free speech does not entitle anyone to an audience
  • Free speech does not entitle anyone to compensation
  • Free speech does not entitle anyone to having their speech repeated by others
  • Free speech does not entitle anyone to be free of criticism

That's it
That's the blog

If you want to read novels in blog form, I highly suggested following @edicted

If you have any trouble using Hive, come see us in the Hive discord https://myhive.li/discord

Y'all have good

This is something I try to mention whenever I get the opportunity. "Free Speech", as many people enjoy it, is only a protection from the government restricting one from expressing themselves no matter their opinion.

"Free Speech" is not a default state. Private organizations, as you said, have a duty to police the content posted on their platform. If one doesn't like the rules of a particular service, they can opt not to use said service. No one is entitled to be able to use Facebook, Twitter, or any other platform, just because they exist.

Bla bla bla , nothing , bla bla nothing .
If you got nothing to say , then just say nothing .
No government should be able to suppress freespeech , got that , ;-)
