Temptation has been a thorn in the flesh of believers . Christians are often discouraged in their race whenever they fall into temptation. Some have lost courage to fight again .
The fact is that temptations are bound to come to us ,because the devil wants to draw us away from our creator ,in order that we will be in misery with him in hell . Christ being God was tempted by the devil ,and thus we shouldn't expect to be free from temptation.
Temptation comes to us because we fail to control our senses , we fail to control what we watch , hear or think about . These are rooms through which the devil attacks us.
Temptation also comes to us because the devil wants to destroy us . When he disobeyed God , he lost every right and claim to heaven , he lost his position , he lost his glory and thus he has been in misery ever since. This is while he wants us to join his course , he wants to take us in the part of doom.
Thus , Christians should endeavor to say no to the devil whenever he comes to assail us. The merit of Christ victory on the cross has given us the strength to overcome sin. We just need to subdue the flesh which leads us to sin through mortification.
We should also not forget that ,left on our own , we can't overcome temptation . We need the grace of God whenever we are tempted. We should call on him during temptation and he will surely come to our aid .
