The call to discern the times is important. Jesus Christ before He ascended into heaven told his disciples that of He knew the time He'll come again, that He would have told them, since He loved them so much.
But since He didn't know, He told them to take note of the signs that will occur, so that they be not found wanting when Christ comes again.
We're in the end period, and we're to take note and act wisely because Christ is coming soon, and since we know not the exact time, we're informed to be ready at all time.
