16th March is the birthday of François Crépieul (March 16, 1638 —1702), a Jesuit missionary in Canada and Daniel Lorenz Salthenius (March 16, 1701 – January 29, 1750), professor of theology and son of a Lutheran pastor, Sweden.
Salthenius was accused of having made a pact with the devil during his schooling days. He addressed a letter to the Devil, asking for a bottomless bag of money in exchange for his body and soul; the letter was written in his own blood and placed under an oak tree, where it was found by the police.
