He has shown you, O mortal being, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

REFLECTIONS:

We might think that all the Lord requires of us is the observance of certain rituals such as attending church services, partaking the Lord Supper, Giving, Praying, Singing praises, etc.
God requires that we act justly... To act toward God according to His divine law and to act toward fellow man according to God's divine law and societal laws that don't conflict with the divine laws of God.
God requires that we love mercy... To show compassion toward fellow man, especially widows and the fatherless and even our enemies. MAY WE IN ALL EARNESTNESS DO WHAT THE LORD REQUIRES OF US.

That was in the Old Testament.

Now, God requires we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins. We to accept what Jesus did on the cross as payment for our sins. And we need to accept him as Lord.
