Broca Live Cycle

I know our system isn't exactly a cake walk. But I think it's time for a light walk around some of the processes in the SPK Network.

SPK

Starting on the left we have SPK (liquid). SPK is earned from operating services in the ecosystem, validator and storage nodes.

SPK Power

SPK Power will give you a resource credit BROCA, enable you to vote on ecosystem parameters, and vote for validators.

Broca

The Broca here is earned at a steady rate, which is 20%(votable) of your max per day. It can be used to build file storage contracts, and extend them as well. If you put twice as much broca as a file needs, the remainder will be returned to you when the file is placed into the system, as it's only at this point the system knows how big the file is. You can think of this like prepaying for a upload limit, and then getting a refund of unused space. This will allow platforms like 3Speak to purchase video upload space for their clients in an easy way.

Proof of Access

This piece of the puzzle is validators each performing actions based on lotteries that are drawn every 3 seconds to check files are stored in the system. Say a contract cost 1000 Broca, since any contract is equally likely to be drawn, and the costs are fixed over the ecosystem, that 1000 is used as a decoupled input to the "Redeemable Broca"

This allows the system to make much fewer computations, will no ill effects. The Larynx Miner token here modulates the efficiency of this Broca passthrough. Larynx can also be delegated to accounts so all the cost isn't on the service provider after a small fee to register their accounts.

Since the storage providers will be earning SPK primarily this also let's them have a channel to provide their services: Delegate Larynx, Get Broca Rewards.

SIP

The Service Infrastructure Pool here is basically a multi-sig account that has a few functions.

  1. Receives Hive for newly minted LARYNX
  2. Automated Market Maker that fills orders on the DEX to self arbitrage the price of newly minted LARYNX with available liquidity
  3. Redeems Broca for SPK
  4. Redeems Broca for Hive over the SIPs collateral limits

DEX

The Decentralized Exchange is more or less the SIP... It shares collateral limits, and functions as a ecosystem-wide order book for all supported trading pairs. HIVE/LARYNX, HIVE/SPK... Hopefully others.

BROCA Markets

As discussed briefly above, the most interesting space here is all the possibilities for BROCA. Getting fast uploads, larger files uploads, redeeming the uploads for differing hive beneficiary amounts, subscriptions, etc etc... This is where I hope to see the most dApp specific uses being flushed out. Will 3speak simply have their users give them 10% beneficiary on a post? Will they have a subscription service? Only time will tell, and the limits simply don't exist.

Summary

I hope this helps to visualize a little better how the ecosystem is functioning.

Sort:

Cool Cool, do you feel like having Broca Soulbound like the original RCs prior to the current HF 1.27

Since they can only be spend on file storage and file storage accessories, I don't have a problem with letting accounts sell file contracts. It's a little different than Hive RCs, since these get cycled into payouts down the road, and aren't just a spam filter.

That means that the Broca itself will potentially create a cycling market, with lower lows and higher highs than the surrounding ecosphere. Very interesting to think about.

The Streaming Servers and File Servers are supposed to stay separated?

They aren't meant to... we're welcoming any service into the ecosystem... the hard part is figuring out the fair way to PoA the things

Hmm, that is interesting as a perspective.

Do only accounts uploading files for storage use Broca? Or it looks like Broca can go into the SIP and get redeemed as Hive? What is the difference between Broca and redeemable Broca

Broca is like getting tickets for rides at the fair... and then redeemable broca is when the ride operators get a cut of the ticket sales after the carnival is over.

It's probably easier to think that redeemable broca has a different name... maybe think of it as proof-of-access tokens.

Oh. Okay. And the ride operators in this example are the validators?

And I will piggyback another dumb question (sorry). Is there a difference between LARNYX and Larnyx miner tokens? I have seen both and assume they are the same.

Yes, The validators and the storage nodes both get some amount of access tokens to redeem for SPK. Larynx is in fact the "miner" token.

Broca will let you earn 20% per day?
That is a lot!!!

It recharges at a rate of 20% per day like RC on Hive.
