Today we take a closer look at "Arkemis the Bear"
Another Promo Card this week. A neutral Common Tank was given out in the "Winterland" end of year promotion and you have received one lvl 1 copy for every Booster pack purchased in the event time and with a 2% chance you could even have gotten a goldfoil.
The character design of this humanoid ice bear is very impressive and reminds me the characters from Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

Here is my interpretation of "Arkemis the Bear"
Time for a rough Illustration Process:

The first sketch i do is always very rough. It is only a guideline for me what shape and proportions my illustration will have.
In the second step i work on a clean sketch with some more details. This two steps makes it easy to finish a clean and detailed lineart.
Now it's time for adding the colour pallet, than shadows and at last step the very important highlights and effects.
All digital work was done on ipad with procreate.

Die Freude ist meinerseits. Hast du alle Splinterlands Charaktere entworfen? Vom style her würde ich es fast annehmen oder machst du comics? Du kannst glatt splinterlands comics machen, so genial gut ist deine Art Qualität!!!! Oder einen Splinterlands Anime oder Comic Film oder Serie zum schauen. Wer zur zeit für die Karten Designs zuständig ist kann ich dir grad nicht sagen. Ich persönlich mache nur Fanart und das mit einigen pausen schon seit 2017 bzw. als der Contest begonnen hat. Das macht mir einfach Spaß und ich kann immer wieder was neues von der Community lernen. An einen Comic oder Film habe ich mich allerdings noch nicht heran getraut, da diese ziemlich zeitintensiv sind.
Jedenfalls habe ich mir vorgenommen hier wieder aktiver zu sein, und freue mich darüber wenn du mal wieder reischaust! ;)
Ach so, da du so gut zeichnen kannst und der Style extrem gut zu dem Game passt, dachte ich das halt. 😅🙃Verzeih.
Versteh ich gu. Ich finde es auch sehr hilfreich andere Künstler durch den Art Contest besser zu finden. Ich hab den Contest durch Zufall entdeckt und der motiviert mich ebenfalls sehr gut.
Scheint eine richtig nette Community dort zu sein, sind alle ganz lieb.

I'm curious, do you work with layers in Procreate e.g. for the colors, shadows, highlights, etc.?
Exactly. For this "comic style" everything has his own layer and every color i put in has his submask for highlights and shadows ;)
Thank you very much for sharing this. It actually looks like most of my Procreate works, but now and then I'll do a 'real painterly' and combine everything into one layer. And oftentimes when I think I'm done I combine everything and then fiddle some more - LOL. Thanks again!
I feel like this Arkemis the bear has a sick guitar intro, and Naruto runs towards the enemy. He's a formidable foe in battle, but has a child-like, annoying persistence to his presence on the Battlefield. He's also a bit arrogant too.
Thanks for bringing some character to a .. character I just always see as a Salty Bear.
