How to Counter Llama and Kron Combo | Splinterlands

Llama-Kron Encounter

Kron Llama.png

We often encounter Scared Llama and Kron The Undying in battle and most of the time we frustrate by this combination. While the base attributes of Kron is naturally magnificent, it was even more enhanced when combined with Llama and last stand is activated (at level 3 Kron will have the last stand ability on his own). He is really almost unbeatable at Bronze battle.

In this video lets talk about some of the few things we can do to counter this ultimate combo. I have also posted the same in my youtube channel in Filipino how I was able to counter this combination and I will be discussing here the battle.

Battle Preparation

In Splinterlands it is a mortal sin if you ignore or forget to check the rules set and the battle history of your opponent. This simple thing will cost you the game.

Basically if you know that Earth Splinter is available in the rule set and that base on opponent battle history he, most of the time uses earth splinter with Kron and Llama in the line up, you can already tell that he would definitely use this combo in your battle. This is the time for you to plan your strategy to beat this dynamic combo.

In this battle of mine, after putting into conclusion that thee is a higher probability my opponent will use Llama and Kron, the next thing I consider is where will the opponent place his Kron. Now let's talk about battle Positioning.

Battle Position and Monster Line-up

POSITION.png

Like in rebounding in basketball, in Splinterlands positioning is very important and it is one of the crucial part where you should be able to backs-out the opponent.
The idea here is to anticipate where will the opponent place his Kron so we can also choose the type of attackers that will attack Kron first. In short we should be able to eliminate Kron first in order for him not to be able to activate his last stand ability.

In this sample battle I anticipated that opponent will most likely place Kron at the very end of the line up so I use 2 high damage sneak attackers, Sandworm and Silvershield Assassin. In addition I used lovely Daria as my summoner who will add pain in my sneakers' attack.

And having Kron at the back, naturally opponent will summon a tank which can be also highly benefited by the last stand if encase I choose to focus my attack solely at the back. In this case I summon level 3 Goblin Mech which is a 4 melee damage tank and Manticore which has reach ability. Both will surely put most of the high health tank in the first position. In this was I will be able to apply high damage both in from and back position.

In addition, as we also rely in our tank damage it is important to have our tank stay longer in the battle. Preferably 2 to 3 rounds so he can deal lot of damage. For this, I summon Shieldbearer who has a taunt ability and place him at the back of the line-up. In this way I will be able to distribute opponent's attack between my Shieldbearer and Goblin Mech so they both can stay to at lease 2 or 3 rounds.

Lastly I uses my level 3 Furious Chicken at the back of the line up, so he can absorb the opponent sneak attackers if ever opponent will use one.

The Battle Begin

So the battle then begin and after series of exchanging attacks, at the end of the 2nd round I was able to eliminate Kron and Flesh Golem while leaving my two tanks Shieldbearer and Goblin Mech with 2 an 1 health respectively. Our plan of distributing opponents attack somehow worked well.

In the following rounds, the opponent was able to alter the situation. After his Spirit of the Forest was eliminated, the last stand was activated to his Oeken Behemont which works really well. With the enhance stats and having both mage and melee attack, he was able deal 3 and 5 damage respectively every round.

At the end of round 5 he was able to eliminate all my monster but the Furious Chicken. Lucky Daria as a level 2 Epic Summoner was able to summon level 3 rare monster Furious Chicken. At level 3 this monster already has 1 melee damage and the +1 buff melee attack from Daria was able to do the last attack eliminating Oeken Bohemont thus, me winning the very close battle.
