What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on a blockchain technology ( Hive Blockchain ). It is similar to concept like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone where you built up collectible cards, which all has various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using blockchain technology, players can buy, sell, and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.

Where to play?

Splinterlands can be play through either Desktop (webbase) and mobile (Android). Although currently some features available in webbase are currently underdevelopment in mobile.

Attacks
This represents the types and number of damage it can deal to the enemy.

There are 3 type of attack damage

  1. Melee Attack
This means you're slashing at the enemy up close. Under normal circumstances, the attacker must be in the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy Armor before health is affected. There is also a chance to miss.
  2. Ranged Attack
The character attacks from a distance. Unable to attack from the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy armor before health is affected. There is also a chance to miss.
  3. Magic Attack
Characters with magic attack may do damage from any row. Not only that, this form of attack ignores the defender's armor and damage is applied directly to health. There is no miss chance, it always hits the target.

Speed
It determines the order in which the character attack. The character with the highest speed will attack first each round. It also makes the character harder to hit by melee and range attackers

Armor
Enemy combatant must first deplete the armor before it can make damage to the defender's health. If the attacker destroys defender's armor any extra damage from the attack is lost.

Health
The represents the life of the character. If the health hits to zero (0) character dies.

Abilities
Abilities are what makes part interesting. Each one makes a unique contribution to the outcome of the battle. They are critical in formulating winning strategy.
Often times you would notice that some characters specialize or perhaps have exclusive access to the special abilities.

The Battle Field
To be successful in the battle you have to understand the terrain. The battlefield consist of two rows and six positions. The strength of your forces depends on how you can utilized these positions and anticipate your opponents.
