Splinterlands strategy: How to survive Earthquake ?

in #splinterlands4 years ago

This is my first article in serie, where I will cover different setup for Splinter battle and gives recommendation about how to adapt. I’m starting of course with my favourite setup “Earthquake”. There are 3 strategies I would recommend for Earthquake.

Fly away :

Obviously having some flying units is the easiest way to survive. That is self explanatory. However if you have only few flying unit, I won’t recommend you to put them on the front line. Puting a furious chicken or any other expendable unit on the front line, could save few precious hit points for your flying units. You want your flying unit to leave as long as possible to wait on non-flying units to die out.

If you have to choose between different flying units avoid the one with long range attack. If your flying unit are the last one standing you want it to be able to attack, which won’t be the case if it is a long range one... You might also consider placing your flying units behind you long range unit, to increase their life span, even if it means losing some attack power.

Heal or die :

Healing ability allows you to ignore the 2 damages from the Earthquake. Every turn the Earthquake will deal you 2 damages, but every turn your unit will heal 2 HP. So any unit with healing ability allow you to play the long game. Just don’t take a tank healer as they aren’t healing themself.

To some extend the unit with the scavenger ability, can also be used for long game. Earthquake are usually deadly making the scavenger ability worth considering.

Like for you flying flying units avoid to put the unit with healing ability on the front line.

Tank up :

Last but not least you can just invest your mana in units with a lot of hit points. This strategy can actually outperform using flying unit in game with hight mana cap. If you have 99 of mana available just lining up your most expensive units might be wise.

Interestingly this is the only path to victory in a very specific setup : Earthquake & Back to basis. This is a crazy setting where flying unitd, fly no more. So every unit will get damages from the earthquake. You can also forget about healing, the only way for your units to survive is to have enough HP.

If you have some other strategy to recommend for Earthquake let me know in comment.
