Tidal Tsunamist may be a common unit but it carries a mix of offense and support that can tilt battles in your favor. With Sneak and solid melee damage it has the ability to shred through fragile backlines if ignored, worse if they have Taunt, while also providing a good defense for your team with its Repair.
What makes it even more interesting is its flexibility. It can hit hard, repair armor to keep your team alive and punish Taunt units with Fury when the chance comes. In this article we’ll take a closer look at how much value you can really get from this unit and if its rental or buy price is worth your DEC.

Let's talk about… Tidal Tsunamist

────────────────────────
Tidal tsunamists are warcallers of the Kingdom of Mar Toren who command the ocean’s fury with their chants. Jicarilla the Rime has enlisted many of them to aid in her search for the secret of Praetoria, using their mastery of waves and tides to reshape coastlines and reveal what lies beneath.
With each storm they summon, they erode resistance, both from the land and from those who oppose them. The royal merfolk family of Poseidar has given them their blessing, for Jicarilla has promised them dominion over sea and shore.

Buy and Rent:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
At $0.244 for level 2 and even cheaper at $0.096 for level 1 Tidal Tsunamist is very affordable. For the damage it brings to the table this price feels cheap especially compared to other common units that don’t have as much burst potential. If you’re looking for a budget card with real threat this one is a strong pickup. Unfortunately, since there's limited versions of cards on the market, you need multiple copies of this card to create a higher level which can accumulate the price.
At 99.950 DEC per day for max level the rental cost feels very high for a common unit. Even though max level unlocks its full potential with Repair and Fury, the daily cost is enough to push some players away. Unless you need it for a very specific lineup or tournament it may not be worth the rental at this rate in my opinion.

Rule Sets:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Use it in... |
![]() The initial Health of all Units is equal to that of the Units on either team with the highest base Health. Tidal Tsunamist’s low health issue can be fixed with this rule set. It also helps make your team stronger by repairing any broken armor in your lineup every round. |
![]() All Units have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. Repair becomes more valuable keeping your team’s armor strong through the fight. This rule set also allows Tidal Tsunamist to repair units that originally does not have any armor. |
![]() Units with Magic attack may not be used in battles. In this rule, there's no magic attack so all the unit's attacks would either be melee or range. Both of these attacks can be hindered by armor improving the value of Repair. |
Avoid using it in... |
![]() Units lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities. Sneak is useless here so it loses one of its best tools and will just sit there and Repair instead of attacking while doing it. |
![]() All Units start the battle Poisoned. With no Cleanse or Heal it burns out quickly. Poison damage also passes through armor so it would not help in making sure your team survives longer. |
![]() Units lose all abilities. Tidal Tsunamist loses all abilities making it just a vanilla melee attacker. It's bad as a tank so it'll just die when put in the front. |

Battle Strat: I have Commander Slade as my main tank, Tidal Tsunamist behind him and Brokne Earth Thug as the last one. Since Tidal Tsunamist was the only support I have, I have to put him in a very safe position and that's the middle. This would allow him to be safe against attacks from the front and/or back. Keeping Tidal Tsunamist safe in this battle actually proved important in me winning this battle.
Battle Summary: While the enemy have the advantage over numbers, I have the advantages over quality. Their good tank, Lioceron, is placed towards the back probably aware of potential Sneaks but the enemy player overthought this time. My attacks are more focused towards the front side which made me pierce through their main damage dealer, Thanalorian Blade. After killing her, it was just a matter of winning. Tidal Tsunamist's repair helped a lot in this battle as only melee and range units are allowed to participate.
