Some cards in Splinterlands give power while others should bring utility and support. Tidal Tsunamist does both. It attacks from behind with Sneak but can also fix the armor of its team which makes it useful in any battles.
It’s one of those cards that can be useful at all times from mid to high levels. With 4 melee damage and 4 speed at max level, it hits like a truck. It’s simple but can be surprisingly effective when used right. While I cannot show her full potential, I hope this article can inspire you to give her a try.

Let's talk about… Tidal Tsunamist
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Tidal tsunamists are warcallers of the Kingdom of Mar Toren who command the ocean’s fury with their chants. Jicarilla the Rime has enlisted many of them to aid in her search for the secret of Praetoria, using their mastery of waves and tides to reshape coastlines and reveal what lies beneath.
With each storm they summon, they erode resistance, both from the land and from those who oppose them. The royal merfolk family of Poseidar has given them their blessing, for Jicarilla has promised them dominion over sea and shore.

Buy and Rent:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
At $15 for a max-level card, the price feels fair for a melee unit that can provide both damage and something more. You get a 4 melee attacker that can also Repair friendly unit's armor and deal extra damage to Taunt units which makes it useful in many matchups. For a Common card that fits well in a lot of role this price looks just okay overall.
At 19.741 DEC per day for level 5, the rental price feels good for what this card can do in battle. It’s a balanced unit that gives strong damage with Sneak and can help your tanks as well through Repair. If you need something to fill in mid mana melee teams, to me, this price is worth paying for that season.

Rule Sets:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
| Use it in... |
![]() Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health. In this rule set, armor becomes more valuable since magic attacks can now be blocked. That makes Repair extremely useful because Tidal Tsunamist can keep restoring armor to her team every round. This ability can swing battles if the enemy relies heavily on magic units since your team will last much longer than usual. Just make sure that they have armor that Tidal Tsunamist can repair. |
![]() Only Units with Melee attack may be used in battles. Only melee units are allowed in this rule set. Tidal Tsunamist can go all in with her melee damage. What makes her shine here is Repair, keeping your melee units healthy by restoring their armor every turn. Melee attacks hit armor so Repair is very valuable here. |
![]() The initial Health of all Units is equal to that of the Units on either team with the highest base Health. Equalizer gives every unit the same health as the one with the highest health on the field. This gives Tidal Tsunamist more survivability, allowing her to stay longer in battle and keep repairing her team’s armor. The longer she stays alive, the more value you get from her Repair ability, especially when facing sustained damage teams. |
| Avoid using it in... |
![]() Units lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities. In this rule set Sneak gets disabled which removes one of Tidal Tsunamist’s strongest abilities. Without Sneak its ability to attack from the back and becomes stuck attacking only in 1st position. The only thing keeping it useful here is the Repair ability. |
![]() All units have Thorns (returns 2 damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack) Since it relies on melee damage, this rule set is dangerous because it takes 2 damage every time it hits a unit with Thorns. It can still perform well but often dies faster because of this. |
![]() Units do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs. This is the worst possible rule set for Tidal Tsunamist since armor is completely removed from all units. Without armor, her Repair ability becomes useless, taking away one of her main strengths. In this case, it’s better to pick a unit that can bring something more even though she has Sneak and high damage. |

Battle Strat: Since the mana in this battle is limited, I wanted to be efficient with my units. I have both units in front and back that has armor. This gives my Tidal Tsunamist some breathing room to move and assist whether the enemy has Sneak or just go through the front. You can use this strategy better if there's more mana you can play around but it also works on little mana since Tidal Tsunamist only takes 5 mana to be used.
Battle Summary: With the advantage of Repair, I won this battle very easy. I was nervous at first because of the enemy Lioceros. It can possible kill my Tidal Tsunamist with its Thorns but my stronger tank partnered with Tidal Tsunamist's Repair made up with the difference in power. They also have Underboss Fabino improving the damage of Lioceros and Thanalorian Blade. But like I said, the Repair was a make it or break it moment that kept my Commander Slade safe as he tears through the enemy lines.
