The Flamboyant Flair of Fizbo the Fabulous

This post was made as entry for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge.

Do you know what to do when all units have the Blast ability? Had you found someone as fabulous as Fizbo? Do you know what Shroud of Reflection Shield do?

All of that will be answered when you read about my post for today and spoiler alert, no one is as fabulous as Fizbo. I want to highlight this battle to show how good the new abilities are and how you can take advantage of it for your games.

This Week's Theme is…

All units have Blast (deals an additional 50% damage to units adjacent to the target, rounded up).

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Explosive Weaponry is the rule set that I don't like the most. It's the best rule set to pair with magic attacks but at the same time, it's one that magic attacks hate the most. The damage spreads a lot and unless you have clear control of the battle, it is really hard to win.

Battle Factors

Mana: 54
Active Elements: Fire, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

|| All units gain True Strike (attacks will never miss).
  • Aim True is a really good rule set of non-magic attackers. This removes the chance that their attacks miss giving you consistent attacks throughout the battle.
  • || All units have Blast (deals an additional 50% damage to units adjacent to the target, rounded up).
  • A tricky rule set that can be good or bad depending on the team. It gives everyone Blast ability that deals extra damage to units adjacent of the target.
  • || 0
  • Limits the units that can by used to units that has 3 or more speed.

Battle Strat: To counter the Explosive Weaponry rule set, I used my newly rented Fizbo the Fabulous. His Shroud of Reflection Shield gives Reflection Shield to units adjacent to him. Reflection Shield completely removes the damage the units got from Magic Reflect, Thorns, Return Fire and Blast, which is given by Explosive Weaponry rule set. I also gave Fizbo the Fabulous Life Leech and Affliction to keep his health high because I saw Magi Necrosi's Snipe and Chaos Dragon's Scattershot.

Battle Summary: With this set up accompanied by high damage units on my team, I was able to get by and win this very hard battle. The Blast from Explosive Weaponry went more in my favor due to the mixed attacks from front and back. I have Sneak units and Snipe unit that can bypass the tanks which killed some of their strong units early on. Lorkus and Immolation provided some beefy firepower for the team which complemented the rule sets.

    Lineup and Strategy

    || All friendly Monsters have +1 Melee damage. || All friendly Monsters have +1 Magic damage.

    Summoner Tactics

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    || When this unit hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed. || Unit's health increases each time it damages an enemy Unit's health by half the damage dealt. || When a Unit with Trample hits and kills its target with a Melee attack, it will perform another Melee attack on the next Unit on the enemy Team. || This Unit does double damage to targets with the Taunt ability.

Why pick this summoner: Really good and flexible summoner making my team work even when there's mixed damage in the team.

    || When hit with a Melee attack, does 2 Meele damage back to the attacker. || Restores a third of the max health to this Unit's health each round. || Reduces the Speed of all enemy Units by 1.

Why pick this unit: Cursed Windeku is a good tank. He has high health, attack and speed. He doesn't have a lot of defense other than high health and is very bad against units with high attacks.

    || Targets the last Unit on the enemy Team instead of the first Unit. || Has a 25% chance of evading melee or ranged attacks. || If an enemy misses this Unit with an attack, the attacker takes 2 damage.

Why pick this unit: A fire unit that has high melee attack and Sneak. The high speed is very good to make sure they attack first.

    || Targets the last Unit on the enemy Team instead of the first Unit. || Each time an enemy is hit by a Unit with Cripple it loses one max health. || If melee or ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health.

Why pick this unit: A good partner with Tenyii Striker. Not only Silent Sha-Vi has high attack, it also has Piercing ability. This ability takes any excess damage from armor direct to the unit's health.

    || Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round. || At the start of battle, units adjacent to this unit gain Reflection Shield. || When this unit hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

Why pick this unit: I found him while renting and thought that the Shroud of Reflection Shield is an interesting ability. I was lucky that I got Fizbo this time to counter the effects of Explosive Weaponry rule set.

    || Reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks by 50%. || Gains 1 max health each time any Unit dies. || Gives all friendly Units +1 Melee attack.

Why pick this unit: Since I am getting near the next division, I wanted some strong magic attack units. I saw Immolation and tried him and it was a great addition to the units I already control.

Why pick this unit: Magi Necrosi is a standard for Death magic units. He has strong attack while also giving himself the ability to be safe with Camouflage. || Tagets the frist enemy Unit with Rangd, Maic, or no attack that is not in the first position with Ranged or Magic attacks. || This Unit cannot be directly targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position. || Does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks or weapons training. || When a Unit with stun hits a target, there is a 50% chance that the target will skip its next turn.

    Summary

After the battle I did in this post, I decided to hang out a bit more because I just need a little more to get to the next division. The last battle was anti climactic because it didn't feature Lorkus but I was still able to win with my reserved units and summoners.

After a few more grind, I was finally able to get to Gold II.

And these are the rewards I got from it:

That's it for my post this week and see you next week after the season reset!
