In Splinterlands, elves have been featured as units. You may remember Elven Cutthroat, Elven Defender and Elven Mystic as few examples when you battled in the past. The most recent addition to these line up of long-eared creatures is the Blackmoor Wild Elf. Have you ever asked why the Blackmoor Wild Elf has such different look than her predecessors? I am here to tell you why and expand both the lore and knowledge in Splinterlands.

There are two elven faction in Splinterlands, one who lives in the Fey Plane and the Blackmoors who live in the Shadow Plane.

The Elves of both planes, though distinct in nature and appearance, share a deep connection to magic and survival. As they explore the new lands of Praetoria where they were thrown into, their once separate worlds collide, revealing both old rivalries and new alliances. Their fate, now tied to Splinterlands and other factions than their own. This is a tale yet to be fully told.

... until now.

In the mystical realms of the Fey Plane, the Elves are one of the most prominent creatures within the Fey Race. They are deeply intertwined with magic and nature that defines their home. The Fey Plane is a wild and big land full of forest and magic where trees and leaves shift to produuce new biomes and areas separated by valleys, ravines and mountains making navigation impossible for outlanders.

The elves who dwell in the land of Fey live in harmony with this unpredictability, thriving in the ever-changing environment. The Shadow Plane, on the contrary, is a dark, twisted reflection of the Fey Plane, a place where magic is tainted, deception and camouflage are their main way of survival and the nature itself is corrupted. Elves that inhabit the Shadow Plane are very different from their Fey counterparts, shaped by the dark energy of their home. While both races come from the same ancient lineage, their environments and surroundings have let them evolve in vast different ways.

Elves of the Fey Plane are graceful and usually smaller in appearance, with slender bodies, elongated ears and eyes that glow softly with the magic of their realm. Their skin are light and vibrant. Some of the Fey Elves even have green skin akin to their lushous environment. They use this to their advantage making them appear almost as if they are part of the forest itself. Their personalities are just as wild and unpredictable as their surroundings; they are quick to laughter but also quick to anger, driven by emotions that can shift as easily as the seasons. Fey Elves are fiercely protective of the natural world, using their innate magical abilities to heal the land and defend it from invaders. Their connection to nature makes them deeply empathetic to the creatures and spirits of the forest, and they often act as guardians to the more vulnerable beings of the Fey Plane.

The Elves of the Shadow Plane, known as the Blackmoor Elves, are very contrast to their Fey Plane counterparts. While some still retain their original skin, majority of them have dark, almost obsidian skin, and their red eyes glow when exercising their magic. Their environment has hardened their soul, turning them into cold, calculating and often ruthless beings. The once beautiful forests of their homeland are now twisted lacking of life. The Blackmoors had adapted to survive in this harsh and unforgiving realm. While they still possess the innate magic of the elves, their magic is visually darker and is focused on creating illusions and trickery, shadow manipulation and controlling the minds and body of others. Shadow Elves trust only themselves and their kind and live by a strict code. They are often see engaging in treachery and deceit in nearby towns and villages to achieve their goals and to survive.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Despite their vast differences, both the Fey Elves and Blackmoor Wild Elves share common traits that trace back to their ancient roots. Both races possess a natural affinity for magic, though they differ due to their needs and their environment. Both of the factions still have long lives, agile, highly intelligent and with a deep sense of pride in their heritage. Both races also value community and kinship, although the Shadow Elves' version of kinship is far more pragmatic and self-serving. Lastly, both elven origins are incredibly resilient, adapting to the challenges of their respective realms.

The elvenkinds have the ability to move through planes originally but when the Chaos Legions attacked, they left rift in different planes which affected both the Fey elves and the Blackmoor Elves. The Elves' arrival in Splinterlands was as unexpected as it was catastrophic. During one of the many chaotic magical rifts that tear through the planes, both Fey and Blackmoor Elves were swept up by a surge of magic and thrown across Praetoria against their will. Their magic which allows them to travel between planes were also sealed as if fate do not want them to do so.

The rupture tore through their planes and many Elves found themselves stranded in the continent of Praetoria, the heart of Splinterlands. Forced to adapt once again, these displaced Elves now find themselves in a land unlike any other, caught in the endless battles of the different factions. The once prideful Blackmoors started to work under others in an attempt to survive while the Fey Elves managed to join alliances to protect their own kind. While many still yearn for the day they can return to their homeland, others have embraced their new life in Splinterlands, seeing it as yet another chapter in their long and storied history. This is the truth and an untold story by the elvenkind.
