Welcome back to our Weekly Battle Mage Secrets!
This week, we are featuring the Little League ruleset.
Little League:
- Only units and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.
Little League is quite interesting because it's quite limiting
| Synergies | |

 | Protect is on of the abilities you can use significantly for lower mana caps. There are a lot of limitations and magic is also quite limited so it's best to include armor into your lineup. |
 | Martyr is also something that can be a big boon on your matches if you can include them. Having it be taken out first so your remaining monsters deal more damage and have more stats can be a game changer. |
 | One of the highly important abilities you can use here is heal. While monsters at this level are usually low HP, having a heal tank 1 or 2 more hits can be the difference between victory and defeat. |
| Counters | |

 | Weaken is often overlooked but can have quite the impact as we usually see low HP for low mana monsters. If they already have an HP disadvantage upfront, you can potentially decimate them a lot faster. |
 | The return or reflect damages are very strong on this ruleset, too. Thorns/Return Fire/Magic Reflect can all go a long way on knocking out the opposition by having them destroy themselves. |
 | Scavenger is also a very strong ability because low mana matches usually have a lot of monsters in the lineup. If every time one monster goes down, you get extra HP, you can outlast your opponents. Dr. Blight is a very high value monster for rulesets like these. |
This week's feature is from a regular match in Diamond League. Rulesets are as follows:
- Aimless
- Little League
- Heavy Hitters
Small mana match due to Little League and we want to fill out our lineup and add in what we mentioned on the synergies and counters, too.
Round 1
This is a good example due to having a lot of the synergies and counters we mentioned. We have Protect, Scavenger, Weaken, Reflect Magic among them. Other notable abilities are Poison, Headwinds, Redemption and Return Fire. All excellent abilities.
Both lineups opted to have similar monsters like Dr. Blight and Venari Bonesmith although I have extra armor due to the soulbound Ravenhood Warden.
Round 2
The Aimless ability worked in my favor here as the Ravenhood Warden took out the opposing Dr. Blight and not giving it a chance to use that pesky Scavenger.
Round 3
Round 3 has me taking out the opposing Venari Spellsmith and while the Redemption ability could have been problematic, the armor from Protect shined here and tanked the hit.
Round 4
Round 4 has me wrapping this game up as I have 3 monsters left with the backline having Life Leech and Scavenger so I can for sure outlast whatever the opponent throws at me.
Results
GG! This is a good example of a Little League match and at lower levels, this won't be as comprehensive due to lack of abilities. It shows that at the higher levels, even if you are limited by the ruleset, abilities will go a long way and you just need to pick out a good synergy for them.
