Share Your Battle Theme - Grumpy Dwarf

in #splinterlands3 years ago

Hello fellow adventurers. It's another Weekly Challenge Theme on Splinterlands. Today I'm going to post my experience in using the featured card for this week, Grumpy Dwarf.

Challenge Rules

THEME: GRUMPY DWARF

Edition: BETA
Rarity: COMMON
Element: NEUTRAL
ATTACK: MELEE
ABILITIES: Reach at level 1

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 99
Little League: You can only use Monsters and Summoners with 4 or less mana.

Lineup Strategy

Summoner: Malric Inferno

I decided to use Malric on this battle since it only allowed 4 or less mana monsters on the lineup. Fire Splinter has low cost monsters with decent melee attacks. The +1 melee attack boost can help end the battle quickly with high damaging attacks.

Tank: Cerberus

One of my starter cards when using a Fire Splinter lineup. Its Heal ability helps it last longer in battles. It also has a decent melee damage of 2 that will be pumped up by Malric's attack boost.

Grumpy Dwarf

Grumpy's role here is a 2nd tank and to protect the next monster from attacks. Its Reach ability is perfect on the 2nd slot position allowing it to attack. Its 1 armor prevents it from dying easily from big attacks.

Goblin Shaman

This card is also one of my starters in a Fire Splinter lineup. Although it does not have any attack power, it compensates with its Weaken ability that Reduces the Health of all enemy monsters by 1. It also has a high health of 4 that can take a few hits before going down.

Serpentine Spy

This is one of my favorite startup cards in a Fire Splinter lineup. It has a decent attack of 2 and speed of 3 which makes it one of the first monsters to attack at the start of battle. It also receives a +1 attack boost from Malric since it uses melee attack. Its Opportunity ability allows it to attack from any position and target an enemy Monster with the lowest health.

Spark Pixies

I chose this card because of its high speed of 5. This allows it to immediately attack at the start of battle and defeat a low health enemy monster in an instant.

Fire Beetle

One of my starter cards in a Fire Splinter lineup. I usually use it to protect my damage dealers that why its placed at the last slot at the back of my lineup. Its Snipe ability targets enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position.

Malric's attack boost was countered since my opponent chose Zintar as his summoner that decreases enemy monsters melee attack by 1. Both teams had monsters with Weaken ability lowering their health by 1.

My team was able to survive Round 1 and managed to defeat two of my enemy's tank monsters at the start of Round 2. However, Cerberus was clinging on its one life and later died at the end of Round 2.

Round 3 was looking good for my team since they were able to defeat Undead Priest removing its Weaken debuff. Also having two Ranged enemy monsters was quite the advantage since the one on the 1st slot can no longer attack.

By the time Round 5 started, a harmless ranged enemy monster was left which Serpentine Spy was able to defeat with no hassle. All thanks to Grumpy and Fire Beetle who always had his back.

Conclusion

Although it was a close match, my team was able to win because of Serpentine Spy's quick attacks. But this would not be possible without Grumpy and Fire Beetle's help.

This is why I like using Grumpy Dwarf in low mana matches. A backup tank with high survivability can carry a team to victory.
