Maintaining A Remarkable Streak On Splinterlands - Rebellion Packs And Rewardless Conflicts

in #splinterlands8 months ago

I am working hard to build a remarkable legacy on ++Splinterlands++, but is so hard when the planets align against me. The second conflict ended as rewardless as the first one, and watching others brag about their rewards leaves a sour taste!

If you're new to Splinterlands... you're missing the best strategic multiplayer game powered by digital-collectible trading card game! Lots of fancy words so lets make it simple ... you try to create the most optimal 7-card deck to fight against opponents.

I set new goals for 2024... to get at least one airdrop card through Conflicts, open at least 25 Rebellion packs, and reach Gold I at least once! None of them happened so far and is a big chance to end the year with a remarkable failure!

Win at least one airdrop card through Conflicts?I want to buy at least 5 War Wagons during the newly Conflicts phase, and fill them with my best cards. I have four so far and the chances are soooooo low! Conflicts and remarkable War Wagons? Not realy! The first one ended, then the second one.. and I didn't got any cards. To be honest is hard when all you've got are 15 chances!

The third one stared and turned us into wanted mages... but Avina of the Wolf saved us from the Pirates of Eight! I joined Commander Goff and his knights in their quest to gather reinforcements for the rising rebellion in New Dawn.

The 2024 challenge should be easier than opening 100 Chaos Legion packs. I bought two during the presale and I will try to buy 3-4 each month. I am already playing catch-up but that's not an issue!

I opened my pre-sale packs and got top staff! Two rare cards and three common ones in the first unwrapping. Argarux Magus and the Pirate of the Eight came to stay, and their aid will be useful for the battles yet to come.

According to the lore, the Argarux Magus is part of the onyx orcs whose settlements span the western foothills of the Daigenloft Mountains and stretch into the caverns of the Upper Daigendark.

The Pirates of the Eight are an infamous crew of pirates led by Captain Corin Drace, who commands eight fleets totaling nearly seven-hundred ships. Rememeber them? You've got saved from their hands at the start of the third conflict!

image.png

Pack two was even better! What started with a common card ended with a legendary Daarg Deadblast, plus a golden foil Yak and an epic Redwyrm Hatchling in-between. As Barney said: Legen... wait for it... dairy!

The yak has a bony plate on it's forehead that serves as both armor against predators and a blunt weapon for defending the herd. The hatchlings will learn to kill before they can even fly, as their mother or father will bring them live prey.

According to the lore, Daarg Deadblast fought his way up the ranks of the Drybone Anarchists to become Eternan Brune's chief advisor. Daarg finds both opportunities and risks, and he subtly navigates them to further his own ambitions.

The third pack was strong as well, with one Grimbardun Fighter and a Nimbledook Scout, plus one golden foil, one epic and the rare Anasth Soothsayer. The golden foil Brewmaster Abraxas can use level three commons and both rare or epics at level two, boosting the power of the team!

According to the lore, he's the proprietor of the Coiled Chalice, using his knowledge of herbalism and the arcane to craft alcoholic concoctions! He offers hope and someday soon will lead the stand against the Chaos Empire!

The masterpiece of the pack was the Harbinger of Chaos, an epic Life unit that starts the battle with Divine Shield. I had to battle test him! Silenced summoners, plus a strange synergy given by Keep-Your-Distance and Weak Magic was the best opportunity!

image.png

I went for a ranged and magic combo as melee weren't available for selection, and a dynamic that put focus on armor repair. The magic will hit armor before health, and keeping the armor up could be the secret key.

Turtle Summoner: Cheap and no boost!

Time Meddler: Tank Mage with Dodge

Harbinger of Chaos: Caster with Divine Shield

Djinn Renova: Caster with Strengthen

Adelade Brightwing: Caster With Repair and Flying

Prismologist: Ranged with Blast

Pelacor Arbalest: Ranged with Double-Strike

image.png

I had to fight against a team that was build around Iziar, which will taunt all attacks and take half damage from spells. He will get a stats boost once the Venari Marksrat will fall, becoming stronger.

The War Pegasus was there to shatter my armor, but my team was too diversified to care about such a minor threat. The Time Meddler was ready to dodge some of those ranged attacks, and keep his team safe from harm.

This was the time when the Harbinger of Chaos came into the spotlights. His divine shield absorbed one ranged attack, then weakened Iziar for the the Prismologist. The blasting attack was Iziar's demise, and some damage also reflected on the Time Mage!

The chaos was unleashed when the Harbinger delivered a deadly spell upon the Gargoya, and the stone devil shattered in thousands of pebbles. The War Pegasus was harmless in the first position, and was soon part of history. The Harbringer survived the battle, thanks to the Divine Shiled and his bravery will be sung by bards! See the full battle here!

The fourth pack was exciting, with another rare Anasth Soothsayer and a card that I've wanted ever since I fought against it! The Moxian Rebel blew my mind, as the Weapon Training ability gives spell power to adjacent units without attack power.

The wizard Sharielle Larimer is the one hiding the red mask. When the sun rises, she opens her shop... and when the sun goes down she will unleash her wrath on the Chaos loyalists!

image.png

Long time gone since I've enjoyed a battle with no rules. This one had only 26 mana cap so I had to improvise a cheap team. Did I just pulled a card that gives spell power to his neighbors and costs only 4 mana? Yes I did! Magic damage given to units with no attack? That's outstanding, specially when I can boost them even more with Obsidian!

Obsidian: +1 Spell Power

Mycelic Slipspawn: Caster with Taunt

Gelatinous Cube: (Caster) with Scavenger

Moxian Rebel: Caster with Weapons Training

Lurking Puffer: (Caster) with Corrosive Ward

Creeping Ooze: Support with Slow

image.png

The Moxian Rebel is such an amazing card, using his weapon training skill to make two units with no attack into magicians! I was facing an angry Tarsa, with a gang of melee monsters... and ants as tanks! Iidri Fyre was the back-up tank, and her Taunt ability would make my attacks split between her and the Antoid Platoon. But casters don't really care about Shield or Taunt, so they shoot at will in both!

The Antoid Platoon was the first one to fell, at the start of the second round, with Iidri following shortly. Three in a row, as the Scavo Hireling couldn't handle the heat.

The Gelatinous Cube kept adding health, scavenging stats with every causality. It was my turn to lose an unit, as the Mycelic Slipspawn was sliced and diced by the Tenyii Striker. Shitake mushrooms anyone?

The Gelatinous Cube was pumped up, with twelve health and two magic damage. His little brother, the Creeping Ooze, wasn't that great... going down after a sneaky attack. All opponents were now back at full speed, and the Tenyii Striker started chopping down big chunks of gelatinous substance. The Moxian Rebel had to defend his team and eliminated the threat!

The others followed the leader's commands and bolts of magic reflected between the enemies. The endgame was brutal, with sparks and even more scavenging. See the full battle here!

Are you ready for pack number five? Chuul the summoner was there, a Chaos Orc, and even a Kha'zi Fire Mage. I unwrapped another Anash Soothsayer but the best card was the Ulundine Overseer ... the new All-Time High when it comes to health! He is now the beefiest unit in the game, with 17 health at maximal level and 10 armor points.

Bring the big guns as this guy is ready to protect his team! He has the Flank ability from level one, giving the Reach ability to the unit in the second position!

image.png

The Overseer can turn a second position melee powerhouse into a destroyer. Ulunds are massive, with the earth trembling when leading the charge. This battle with tricky battle rules was the Overseer's chance to shine. He will survive the Earthquake and will delay the end game. The Keep Your Distance rule mad the melee monsters unavailable, so my forecast was on flying casters!

Avina of the Wolf: Heal given to tank

Ulundin Overseer

Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr

Pelacor Conjurer: Flying

Evangelist: Ranged with Snare

War Pegasus: Ranged with Flying and Shatter

image.png

Remember Avina of the Wolf? She saved us from those nasty pirates! Now she used her power to grant heal to the hungry hippo! This team was created to last, as the beefy tank was now able to heal himself. Battle tactic? The Evangelist will snare flying enemies, while the War Pegasus will shatter their armor and deal deadly damage.

Was a good plan on the paper, but not that good when facing an army of magical creatures. Their spell damage was boosted by Obsidian, and my hungry hippo wasn't ready for a shower of magic arrows. He was down before I blinked!

The Venari Marksrat was the next to fall, but at list his martyr boosted the Pelacor Conjurer stats. The earthquake his the majority of the monsters, and the Pelacor Conjurer fell from the first wave of spells. The War Pegasus was left alone, to frail to be a danger. This battle ended before it started! See the full masacre here!
