Here come another week of battle challenge. And the weekly topic is ANTOID PLATOON. Fire wasn't my favorite deck, but Antoid Platoon is indeed a very good card considering the mana it require is very less but come with pretty considerable HP + Shield and ability SHIELD. No further ado, let's start!

MATCH RULES

EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY

NOXIOUS FUMES
All Monsters start the battle Poisoned.

MANA: 17

ELEMENTS: FIRE / WATER / EARTH / DEATH

LINEUP

SUMMONER

Tarsa

The main reason of choosing Tarsa in this match is the ability of increasing max HP of all monsters. Under NOXIOUS FUMES all monster are taking 2 damage per round, so giving additional HP would definitely help! Under rule NOXIOUS FUMES you would wanted to stay in the game as long as possible, considering this match only allowed 17 mana, so Tarsa with 4 mana requirement is the best pick. And +1 melee attack is the icing on the cake, not the main reason I'm choosing it, but who knows it might help?
MONSTER

1st Position - Antoid Platoon

Protagonist of the week! I'm putting him on 1st position because of the SHIELD ability. 4 HP + 2 armor is definitely low, but with the SHIELD ability which reducing physical incoming damage, it's making this card standout. He could always tank longer than any other card which is also costing 4 mana, except against magic damage. The main purpose here is, just to tank as long as it could, while other opponent are suffering from NOXIOUS FUMES damage while the forgotten one at 3rd position remain untouched.

2nd Position - Scorch Fiend

It's always good to fill up the empty position, additional card that taking additional damage could be crucial to win the game sometimes, so Scorch Fiend were put in this position. I choose Scorch Fiend over here instead of Furry Chicken because of the 1 attack. If Antoid Platoon has been taking out real fast, Scorch Fiend would still stand a chance to deal some damage. 1 attack might not help much, but better safe than sorry.

3rd Position - Forgotten One

A MUST HAVE card while playing in rule NOXIOUS FUMES. His IMMUNITY prevent him from taking any damage from NOXIOUS FUMES damage, while having very good composition state of Attack, HP and Shield. He was placed in a position far from battle, in the hope that he could stay in the healthier state after every other monster are suffer from NOXIOUS FUMES damage. When reached his turn to fight in frontline, most likely he will be facing weak opponent which has already very much suffer from the debuff damage.

4th Position - Furious Chicken

Again, a zero mana requirement card just to fill up the empty slot. This card was chosen to stay at the last position to protect Forgotten One from taking SNEAK dammage.

BATTLE REPLAY

EPILOGUE

Did your strategy work?
What will you try differently next time?

Yes, my strategy work very well. Although opponent use summoner to offset the armor of Antoid Platoon which is out of my expectation, but Antoid Platoon still manage to survive the first round. As a card with merely 4 mana and armor has been reduced at the beginning of battle, it really did a great job defending the Forgotten One. And opponent were destroyed by NOXIOUS FUMES while Forgotten One didn't take too much damage, which just work out as what I planned.

I was focusing too much on rule NOXIOUS FUMES and neglected EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY. I realize I could do better by putting Scorch Fiend to 1st position and Antoid Platoon to 2nd position. Blast damage from opponent would be halve, and with Antoid Platoon SHIELD ability it would turn to zero, which could lead Antoid Platoon to survive 1 more turn. Although this switch wouldn't change the end result of this battle, but that's something that need to take note next time.

Do you like ANTOID PLATOON?
Why or why not?

I'm not a fan of fire element deck, but I do like Antoid Platoon. The HP and Amror it provided along with SHIELD ability make him very solid front liner in low mana match against physical attack, but it has obvious weakness which is magic attack. But as a card with only
4 mana cost, it's great value for mana. And it's also great to place at the last position, since most of the card with SNEAK ability are melee physical attacker, Antoid Platoon did play the tanker role at last position exceptional well too.
