Introducing Grum Flameblade

“You cannot last four rounds,” says Grum Flameblade to his enemies. These are the words that Grum seems to say in all the three battles that we are about to see.

In the public release of Chaos Legion series, Spirit Hoarder is the newest airdrop card revealed today. Previous to him was Grum Flameblade. This is a legendary fire monster, which I have proven numerous times very helpful in my play. My weekly battle story is about this legendary card:

A player using fire splinters should consider this fire warrior as the priority consideration in a high mana fight. As you can see, he has 4 Melee attacks, 5 shield, and 10 health. He also has a void armor, and so he is protected by his shields from magic attackers. The only setback I see is that this monster is slow. In a reverse speed rule set, that would be an advantage. But during normal rules, the only way to remedy his speed is by killing an enemy. With bloodlust ability, this fire warrior enjoys the battle. When everyone is weakening, it seems that he is just starting. All his stats will increase as he slays his enemies one by one. In the three battles below especially the last one, we will see how Grum Flameblade is able to overwhelm his enemies.

First Battle

In the following first two battles, I am utilizing my youngest son’s account. The first battle has two rules: Noxious Fumes and Melee Mayhem. Noxious Fumes mean that all the monsters after the first round are poisoned and two points will be deducted from their health. This is the reason why in this current fight, Fire Splinters are my first option simply because of the presence of the Forgotten One:

This monster is immune from poison. In other words, while the health of everyone is reduced both in his team and the enemies’ team, this monster remains unaffected because of his immunity ability. In fact, prior to the release of Chaos Legion packs, I have been renting Almo Cambio every play due to similar ability:

So, immunity to negative status effects is the ability that these two cards share. However, do not commit similar mistake that I did thinking that the ability applies in earthquake rule.

Considering the two rules, the selection criteria of a player should include cards with high health and Melee attacks. Melee Mayhem means that all monsters with this weapon can attack the tank from any position. In this fight, I selected all monsters with Melee attack except one, Halfling Alchemist:

image.png

Don’t be deceived by the numbers. Though the stats of Halfling Alchemist are all one, it doesn’t mean that this neutral warrior is weak. In fact, his ability to cut in half the attack of the enemy has been proven time and again, which determines the final outcome of the battle. Just to see Halfling Alchemist hit the tank enemy once with high attack, that to me, is enough to consider that this fighter has done his role as a member of the team.

The present battle has 48 mana cap. Both players preferred to use Tarsa as the Summoner. We also both have the Disintegrator. Since this a Melee Mayhem battle, it makes sense to include the Disintegrator in both teams. This neutral monster has the ability to reducing the melee attack of all enemy monsters.

The battle only lasted for four rounds. In the first round, both Halfling Alchemist and Grum Flameblade have done the greatest damage to Living Lava, the enemy’s tank. Mission accomplished for Halfling Alchemist and as the second round started, the poison killed him because he has a low health.

As the second round started, both our tanks died. The Forgotten One has done an impressive performance by killing the new frontline warrior of the enemies with just one hit. This is because the Forgotten One has five Melee attacks.

As Grum Flameblade slaughtered his first victim, all his stats increased for the first time. My Intergator perished due to both the attack of Tenyii Striker and the poison.

During the third round, Grum Flameblade’s second victim was Tenyii Striker, a very powerful sneak attacker:

The battle ended with both the Forgotten One and Grum Flameblade still standing The Forgotten One seems to be tired, but Grum Flameblade is just starting and asking for more.

Second Battle

This time, speaking of summoners, the fight is magic against magic. The other player is using a purely earth splinters team. He relies on the strength of the two healers: Goblin Psychic and Wood Nymph. This is actually a very powerful earth team.

In my camp, I combined three forces coming from the dragon, fire, and neutral splinters. I have two legendary dragon monsters in my team plus one fire legendary warrior. All in all, these are the three legendary fighters in my team: Chaos dragon, Grum Flameblade, and Robo Dragon Knight.

Opportunity and earthquake are the rules of the game. In an opportunity rule set, monsters will attack first the enemy with the lowest health. In earthquake, every round, two health will be deducted from the monsters who do not have the flying ability.

As in the case of the first battle, this too lasted only for four rounds. In the first round, Creeping Ooze has been proven very useful by diverting the enemy’s attack to him in order to maintain the high health of his team members. Chaos Dragon, with just one random attack has slain one of the healers, Goblin Psychic.

In round 2, nothing significant happened.

The third round is the turning point for two powerful enemies were destroyed. Chaos Dragon slain Unicorn Mustang slain and Grum Flameblade crushed Mycelic Slipspawn.

And so, reaching the final round, only Regal Peryton remained against the three legendary. With such a situation, you immediately see the final outcome of the battle. Robo Dragon Knight was taken down by Regal Peryton. It was Grum Flameblade again who sealed the victory by destroying Regal Peryton. His stats increased with 6 melee attacks, 3 speed, 1 shield, and 12 health. Just like in the first battle, Grum Flameblade is asking for more.

Third and Final Battle

This time, I am using my wife’s account. It is somewhat similar to the first battle for both players prefer to use Tarsa as the summoner.

The rule sets are Aim True and Up Close and Personal. In Aim True rule, Melee and ranged attacks always hit their target. On the other hand, in Up Close and Personal, the rule is only monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles.

First round is just a warm up with one casualty each coming from both camps. In the second round, Fineas Rage was very helpful for Grum. He prepared the way for Grum to annihilate Living Lava. As a result, his stats increase to 6 Melee attacks, 2 speed, 1 shield, and 12 health.

In the third round, Grum Flameblade destroyed two enemies. His Melee attack is up to 8, speed to 4, and health to 14.

In the last round, after Grum Flameblade demolished the last enemy, his total stats ended with 9 Melee attacks, 5 speed, and 15 health. Where can you find an enemy that will match the battle stamina of this warrior?
