Brave Tournaments - Week 2

As originally announced in this post, Brave (creators of the Brave Browser and Basic Attention Token (BAT)) will be sponsoring a series of 12 Splinterlands tournaments over the course of four weeks with approximately $5,000 in prizes paid out in total!

The second week of tournaments have just been created and put live for players to start entering and they include a number of changes from the first round. The prize payouts for the tournaments have been spread over a larger number of places, giving many more players the chance to win a prize in each tournament, and the tournaments in the second round will now allow cards from all editions to be played.

The biggest change is that Brave has agreed to remove the entry requirement for the tournaments due to the extreme gas fees on the Ethereum blockchain making it overly burdensome for the majority of players. As a result, the second round of tournaments will have only a nominal entry fee of 10 DEC which is necessary to ensure that only serious players enter and the higher league tournaments (silver and above) will have a higher fee for players too far below the league level of the tournament to help ensure that these tournaments consist mostly of players of the intended leagues.

We understand that some players have already purchased and/or transferred BAT tokens in order to participate in the tournaments, however after seeing the turnout and difficulties experienced for the first set of tournaments both Splinterlands and Brave feel that it is in the best interest of both brands to remove the entry requirement and open the tournaments up to more players.

The links to the second set of three tournaments are below:

As with the first week of tournaments, Splinterlands and Brave will review the results and feedback on this set of tournaments and adjust as necessary for the following set which will be announced next week. Players can provide feedback and suggestions for tournaments in the #tournament-planning channel in the Splinterlands Discord Server.

Good Luck!

Stay tuned for more updates from the Splinterlands!

This whole BAT thing has cost me a lot of a money, primarily in opportunity cost. I was holding a few thousand BAT and traded with players to help them get the required BAT at a reduced fees. So now I have way less BAT, which has gone through the roof in price after I traded it. If the BAT was still required, that would be one thing, but it was all for nothing now with this change!
I understand why it was changed, but this is super frustrating and has ended up costing me nearly $1000 compared to if I had continued hodling my BAT as planned.
😭

Update. Yaba sent me some BAT to offset my losses. This team is seriously the BEST!

I shouldn't have sold my BAT 😭

Nice, thanks for reconsidering the entry requirement

I knew that this change was going to happen it was necessary thanks, brave team and splinterlands

Thanks guys, ETH fees make anything on chain illogical, it will kill ETH eventually

Did anyone from splinterlands explain to Brave that most of the 'top' players play multiple accounts and they will collude to win all the prizes?

Would hate to see companies throw their money at something that they don't fully understand the rules to.

Brave and Splinterlands are growing a lot right now
