⚔️ The Fourth Escalation Conflict Approaches ⚔️

🐢 El Jefe Leads the Fourth Escalation Conflict ⚔️

image.png

El Jefe has spent centuries watching empires rise, realms fall, and the Chaos Legion consume everything in its path.

He has survived by observing.

By understanding.

And by always knowing more than he lets on.

Now, the legendary tortisian turns his attention toward what comes next.

Beginning on August 27, the Fourth Escalation Conflict introduces another exclusive Legendary Archon, giving Battle Mages a new opportunity to strengthen their collections and bring an entirely new strategy to the battlefield.

Points begin accumulating on August 27 at 12 PM ET / 4 PM UTC.

El Jefe

The Fourth Escalation Conflict introduces El Jefe, a tortisian whose centuries alongside the Chaos Legion have taught him that survival is rarely about being the strongest or the fastest.

It is about understanding the board before everyone else does.

Bloodline Dominion: Tortisian units can be summoned from any available element.

Tactic: Soul Siphon

El Jefe may give Soul Siphon to up to 2 units.

Soul Siphon: As long as there is a non-Weary allied unit, self-resurrects with 100% armor and 50% of max health (rounded down). All magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied. Inflicts Weary on the non-Weary allied unit with the highest health and reduces their health by 50% (rounded up).

Soul Siphon gives El Jefe the ability to keep key units in the fight by drawing strength from their allies.

A fallen unit may rise again.

But someone else pays the price.

🏅 Community Spotlight

El Jefe is the Escalation Archon of Jeff, AKA, JEFFOPENSCARDS, one of the Top 6 finishers on the Escalation Presale Leaderboard.

As part of their rewards, Jeff earned the opportunity to name a Legendary Archon, receive a max-level copy in all three foils, and claim a unique 1-of-1 Archon Skin.

Congratulations to Jeff, and thank you for helping bring El Jefe to Praetoria.

Lore

Orval Moldoon's realm didn't die all at once.

That was the Chaos Legion's way, not a single catastrophic blow but a long diminishment, mana leeched out of the earth and the air until magic simply ceased to be. Most of the realm's denizens spent those early months in denial or panic.

Orval spent them watching.

And when the legions appeared on the horizon, he didn't flee.

He plodded toward them.

A tortisian walking alone toward an invading army was either a spy or a fool, but he didn't move fast enough to be dangerous either way. The legionnaires threw him in with the other conscripts and put him to work.

It didn't last.

Orval knew things about the land and the people in it, and he was not shy about saying so. With his knowledge, the legion moved through the region faster than anyone had planned. Then through the next region. Then the next.

Someone among the conscripts started calling him El Jefe which, in the language of his home world, meant "The Nimble."

It was meant as a joke.

But by the time his realm was spent, the commanders were using it too, and the joke had gone out of it.

What followed was centuries of campaigns across numerous realms, each one feeding the dark god that most of the legion believed was their patron and their purpose.

Orval watched Uul feed.

Watched the mana of conquered realms get consumed by its endless gluttony.

And he began to understand something he kept carefully to himself.

Uul was not the endgame. Uul was just another pawn.

He was with the Chaos Legion when the rifts finally opened on the Splinterlands. He was there when the armada fell and the kingdoms crumbled and the thirteen provinces of the Chaos Empire rose from the wreckage.

He watched the rebellion take root and spread the way he had watched resistance movements spread before, noting where it would hold and where it would break.

When the Chaos Empire was pushed back to Tovingor, El Jefe went with it.

He has been there since, patient in the way of someone who has outlasted many other worlds and expects to outlast this one too.

What none of the legionnaires know, what even the Ascendency does not fully grasp, is that El Jefe has spent centuries studying Silus of the Rift the way Silus studies everything else.

Mount Praetorous is not a destination.

It is the end of a very long sentence, one Orval Moldoon began reading in the ruins of his own world centuries ago.

He knows exactly how it ends.

He intends to be there when it does.

Wagon Crafting and Repairs

Battle Mages looking to expand their war effort have two ways to acquire additional wagons.

Craft Wagon Kits in the Artisan Quarter

Two Wagon Kits are required to construct one Mage Wagon.

Each Wagon Kit requires:

ResourceAmount
Wood17,500
Stone7,000
Iron1,750
Aura1,250

Wagon Kits are tradeable and may be bought or sold through the non-card market.

Purchase with DEC or Credits

Wagon Kits may also be acquired using DEC or Credits. The system uses DEC behind the scenes to purchase the required kits from the market.

⚠️ Wagon Damage and Repairs

Every airdropped Conflict card damages one Mage Wagon.

This applies to your full wagon inventory, not only the wagons actively participating in the current Conflict.

One Wagon Kit is required to repair each damaged wagon.

Example

A player owns 100 Mage Wagons and loads 30 of them for the Conflict.

If that player receives 40 El Jefe cards from the airdrop, 40 of their 100 total wagons will become damaged and require repairs before they can be used again.

🎁 Rewards System

Every 100,000 points earns you 1 entry toward the Conflict airdrop.

Each entry has a 0.25% chance to receive the Conflict card.

A guaranteed drop is awarded after 400 entries.

⚠️ Gold Foils, Black Foils, Gold Foil Arcanes, and Black Foil Arcanes are not obtainable through the initial Conflict claims.
Premium foil versions are distributed through the Leaderboard and Foil Draw systems.

Players may:

  • Allocate all Chances into a single Foil Fortune Draw
  • Split Chances across multiple Foil Fortune Draws

After the Conflict ends, players will have a two-day allocation period to decide how their Chances will be distributed among the available Foil Fortune Draws.

Once the allocation period ends, the Foil Fortune Draws will be conducted and rewards distributed.

Potion Bonus Entries 🍀

Potions may be used to increase the number of Foil Fortune Draw entries, up to double the number of Chances allocated to a specific draw.

Example

A player allocates 100 Chances to the Black Foil Fortune Draw.

That player may use up to 100 Midnight Potions, increasing their total to 200 Black Foil draw entries.

Foil Fortune DrawPotion Required per Bonus Entry
Gold Foil1 Alchemy Potion
Black Foil1 Midnight Potion
Gold Foil Arcane1 Lustrous Potion
Black Foil Arcane1 Lustrous Potion

Important Notes

  • Each player receives one final submission for their Foil Fortune Draw allocation.
  • Allocations cannot be changed after they are confirmed.
  • Players who do not submit an allocation will have all Chances automatically entered into the Gold Foil Fortune Draw.
  • Automatic Gold Foil entries will not use potions.
  • The Foil Fortune Draws are the only way to obtain Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, and Black Foil Arcane versions of El Jefe.
  • Regular Foil and Gold Foil versions may be found in packs after the Conflict concludes.

Preparation for the Next Conflict

During this period, Battle Mages can:

  • Repair damaged Mage Wagons
  • Build additional Mage Wagons
  • Place newly earned Conflict cards into wagons
  • Adjust their wagon strategy for the upcoming Conflict

Wagon preparation operates independently from the Foil Fortune Draw process. Players may prepare wagons for the next Conflict while Foil Fortune Draw allocations are taking place.

🐢 El Jefe Makes His Move

El Jefe has survived the fall of his own realm.

He has marched through centuries of Chaos Legion campaigns.

He has watched Uul consume worlds, studied rebellion from both sides, and spent longer observing Silus of the Rift than most beings have been alive.

Now he brings that patience to the battlefield.

He opens Tortisian combinations across every available element.

He gives Soul Siphon to two units.

And when one of his chosen units falls, death may only be another piece on the board.

El Jefe has spent centuries watching everyone else make their move.

Now it's his turn.

Prepare your wagons.

The Fourth Escalation Conflict begins August 27.

El Jefe is watching.
