Today we’ll take a look at two little cards that are truly great in their own ways.

The cards we will be highlighting today are the Creeping Ooze and the Furious Chicken.

Both cards are Neutral so regardless of the Splinter you’ll be playing, you can field these two in your deck. The only exception is in the Taking Sides rule set in which no Neutral monsters are allowed.

The Creeping Ooze

The Creeping Ooze is a very nice card to throw into your deck in battles where you find yourself with 1 Mana left and no other good cards to play.

This sticky little blob is quite easily defeated by most other monsters, especially as it lacks Attack what so ever. What it brings to the table can be easily overlooked.

The Ooze is a great and cheap cannon fodder and bait monster that has the Slow ability. By being so creepily sticky the Creeping Ooze afflicts all enemy monsters with a -1 Speed debuff.

There are so many times you’ll wish the enemy was slower than you. Consider the case when you battle an other deck that is roughly on the same Speed level as your deck, this little guy can make sure that your monsters are allowed to attack first, allowing you to bring down a few of the enemies before they can attack you.

The Furious Chicken

This is possibly the most useful card in all of Splinterlands. I don’t even feel like I’m exaggerating. This tiny but angry bird is the only 0 Mana card in the game that I’m aware of.

It is Neutral and free to use in your deck. Read that again, please. This means that in every low mana cap battle where you are left with no Mana but with free slots, the Furious Chicken can and will all certainty should be played.

It’s a very weak card without Attack, and as such it’s most prevalent use case is as cannon fodder in low mana cap battles. It also does great as bait for enemy monster who targets the monster with the lowest health via such abilities as Opportunity, or as a Last Position monster to protect the rear from Sneak attacks. The same goes for the Creeping Ooze.

This card is basically a free shield that makes sure that attack doesn’t hit any of your valuable monsters, and this can definitely be the deciding factor in who wins the battle.

In low mana cap battles you can combine the Furious Chicken and the Creeping Ooze as your Tank solution instead of a more expensive Tank. If you play the Water Splinter and are going caster-heavy, you could consider including the Venari Wavesmith as one of your caster. The Venari Wavesmith boost the Armor of all your monsters by +2, suddenly making this cheap cannon fodder Tank solution much more sturdy.

Hope you enjoyed this short highlight. Let’s get back to battling!
