this time let me talk about an amazing journey through the Splinterlands.
I started playing Splinterlands in probably what was the worst time, July 2021. The crypto market just collapsed, with that famous 30 minutes in crypto where BTC went down 30% and then again up 20%. It seemed that moment decided that the Bull market was over and that the Bear market started, though no one wanted to believe that. As I wasn't an expert trader I lost a lot chasing green candles which always ended up in minimum profit, or in most cases, a small loss. With time that loss accumulated and I was getting sick of the crypto market. Luckily I made some money on that collapse and put everything into ETH hoping it wouldn't be worse.
When you try crypto once you are always on the lookout for the next opportunity, for the next big thing. And this is how I found Splinterlands. I bought a spellbook and started to play a game. I was getting a few DEC per game and everything was fine. It took me quite a while until I learned how things are working. Hopefully, the community in Discord was very helpful. I remember when I got my first reward card, it was Wave Runner, which I sold for 0.14 USD. I was hooked. After that, I invested my first 100 USD into Splinterlands. I bought some cards and started to play in the high Bronze and low Silver leagues. Sadly I still didn't know anything but it was getting better. I got my hands on some better cards like Mylor Crawling and I was crushing Bronze League by spamming Mylor and Alric. This is the phase where I was watching YouTube videos of @bulldog1205 who helped him a lot, and through this, I want to give him a big shout for everything he did for the community.
Every week I made a plan and calculations of which card I would buy next week when I got enough DEC. But, little I knew, it was a crazy flywheel in Splinterlands. The card that was worth 0.5 USD the next day was worth 1 USD. I even started blogging on Peakd to get some additional money to fund my new addiction. 100 USD that I invested went up to 1000 USD. I was so happy. I was getting some money and my portfolio was just growing. It felt that Splinterlands had so much potential but it was so hard to get out of the Bronze league. I was dreaming of Gold leagues and higher and with all these high prices I was thinking that Diamond and Champion are leagues of which I can only dream.
Then, Chaos Legion was announced and yes, that was the perfect time for me to take out staked ETH and invest it into Splinterlands. And I did just that. First I went up from Bronze to Gold with Death, Life, and Dragon Splinters. I was so happy, DEC started to come in, I was collecting cards and everything was good. After 2 months, prices went down a bit and Diamond was not out of reach. Once again I pushed with only Life and Death splinters (because these are my favorite) and went into Diamond. The rewards were better, I was playing for a good guild ClaNFT (big shout to @jakkal for time spent together in that guild), and everything was good. The new reward system was introduced and I even got a big bag of SPS in one of the chests so I replaced all the SPS I sold to get more cards.
More changes happened like a new energy system, a new reward system, and splitting the game into two formats, Modern and Wild. There were a lot of positives but the market was going down more and more and so it was my portfolio. I wasn't paying attention a lot to that, but still, that was somewhere in the back of my head, like a warning. Everything could crash, everything could go down, and maybe it is time to sell and run away with the money that you have. In the meantime, I started to follow @infidel1258 on YouTube. I agreed with most things he said about Splinterlands. He believed in Splinterlands when we were in bad situations (we still are but there is a light at the end of the tunnel) and he was "someone" who pushed me to grind every day for "that trivial" reward that would add up one day and probably change our lives.
The Bear market hit us even harder, basically so much that I bought maxed CL legendary cards the other day for under 10 USD. And if you believe in Splinterlands you know that this is the opportunity you can't pass. It happens once and you have to use it. There was a big earthquake in Splinterlands where they had to lay off some people including Aggroed and it wasn't the best time.
And then, 2 weeks later, DEC is almost at its peg, SPS is going up and Land will probably be live when this article is published. We sold 306608 Packs of Rebellion in presale which is equal to 1,5 million USD. That should be enough for Splinterlands to survive until the next Bull run.
Now I am here, collected almost the entire Chaos Legion set, on the road to 100k SPS, got 5 Plots of land, and wrote over 100 posts on Peakd, and I am feeling good about this project. If you asked me if this was possible 2 years ago, I would definitely say no! But working hard every day pays off.
