Card Spotlight #7: Ice Pixie

Do not be tricked by her small stature because this one pack a punch. From the frozen hell of Azmaré, these mischievous creatures of the ice will emerge you victorious if you're able to take a hold of this trickster's powers properly.

The card we will be discussing today is Ice Pixie.

  • Cost to buy/rent this card. How affordable and accessible is the card.
  • Card Stats. How balanced the card is based on its role.
  • Card Effect. How useful is its effect based on the role of the card.
  • Strengths and Weaknesses. If the card can counter other cards and/or be countered easily by others or not.
  • Positioning. Adaptability of where the card can be placed.
  • Compatibility. How useful it is on its current element.

    As always, since I'm using the level 1 version and this is a free to play card, I will not be including the rent and purchase cost of this card. It would be confusing if I add a rental cost and purchase cost if you can use it for free.

If you're planning to use a higher level of Ice Pixie, get the gold version instead. It costs a bit but you'll surely use it in every water game due to its low mana. It can act as a booster of DEC per win even if it's useless in some rule sets.

Card Stats ||

Mana: 2 | Damage: 1 Magic | Speed: 3 | Health: 1

Ice Pixie's stats is obviously on the low end. Low health and low damage is quite bad but having magic damage and low mana makes up for it. Including her in a full mage build is a must due to her low mana and higher speed. This means she's going to attack first than most. If you include a support like Venari Wavesmith, her low health is not going to be a problem.

Card Effect ||

  • Flying: Has a 50% increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Shatter: Target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from Monsters with Shatter

The abilities are not too useful but it is okay. The Flying ability is really good in Earthquake Rule Sets as it negates the damage of that rule set. The shatter ability is not useful at all if you're going to use Ice Pixie in Full Mages as magic damage bypass armor. If you're going to include her as a support for a sniper or melee build, then it's quite good. Ice pixie has higher speeds in higher levels which allows her to attack first and eliminate any pesky armor the enemy has before other creatures attack.

Strengths Weaknesses ||

|| Despite her weaknesses in abilities, she makes up in 3 things that makes her worth putting in ANY mage builds. First and most important, low mana. Being a low mana common card, she's not hindered on a lot of rule sets like Commons only, no legendaries, little league and other rule sets as such. With low mana, she can fit in all builds as a filler or as a mage. Second, she has 3 speed which means she acts faster than most. Normal speeds are around 1 and 2 and having 3 speeds means she attacks first most of the time and lastly, being a magic damage user, her attacks don't miss and bypass armor.

|| Her two abilities are, to be honest, not really useful. Ice Pixie is normally used with a full mage build meaning shatter would not matter as magic damage pass through armor. Flying may help a bit since Ice Pixie has 3 speed. With Flying ability, she has decent chance of dodging attacks from lower speed creatures. The issue is that it's only a "chance". Against other mages, she's a sitting duck.

Positioning ||

  • The best position for this card is 3rd or 4th. Due to low health, I normally put it in the middle of the pack. Being protected by both front and back, this mischievous creature wreaks havoc in enemy line as a magic user. I especially like this card in Target Practice Rule Set and Equaliser Rule Sets. The former gives all ranged and magic users snipe ability and believe me, a mage user with snipe is incredibly scary. The latter changes all base health of all creatures on board and make it the same as the highest health creature on board. That means your Ice Pixie may become 10 health if there's Djinn Oshannus on the field.

Compatibility ||

  • This card is most compatible with water mages. She does good in all builds as a filler due to her low mana. I like combining Venari Wavesmith, Kelp, and Ice Pixie in a 12 mana match as each allows to support each other.

Before doing the final verdict, here are some samples of using this card. I use Ice Pixie a lot due to her mana cost. She can fit in all the builds.

Final Thoughts


With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that Ice Pixie is an extremely useful card. Her best asset would be the low mana, damage type and speed.

All in all, I would give it...

One demerit of this card is due to her low health, opportunist creatures always target her first. Keep in mind the rule set and probable enemy builds before proceeding with her.
