Card Spotlight #10: Dark Ha'on

╘═══════════════╡°•✧•°╞═══════════════╛

Is that a bird? Is that a dragon? Is that a cat? I don't know anymore. This majestic creature flies off the battlefield taunting everyone while skillfully dodging everything else. A death card that brings chaos on the battle field.

The card we will be discussing today is Dark Ha'on

Lore

╘═══════════════╡°•✧•°╞═══════════════╛

Scholars of Khymeria have studied the shapeshifting, mystical beasts known as Ha'on extenseively since their appearance ten years ago. At an early age, each Ha'on chooses a single power form, into which they can transform. Their time is then divided into their original humanoid form and the power form, which takes a considerable amount of energy to maintain for long periods of time. The Human forms of Ha'on are recognizable by their frightening single-colored eyes, a trait with which they are endowed when they realize their full shapeshifting potential. The Dark Ha'on is one of the strongest Ha'on, taking the power form of a large flying cat.

    Haon Rent.jpg

I normally rent Dark Ha'on with Ancient Lich. He's a very good tank for protecting very fragile targets. Ancient Lich has low speed and health but has very good damage type and ability. He requires time to scale and be strong and Dark Ha'on is quite good on protecting him until Ancient Lich gets that spike that he needs.

Haon Buy.jpg

Dark Ha'on is a little bit on the expensive side being a legendary card. It's worth the money if you're going to purchase it since the level 1 ability is extremely good. He has great stats as well that would serve you well throughout your battles.

════════════════════════════════

Card Stats ||

The high amount of health covers the lack of armor for this tank. The speed is decent and the damage is on the low side. However, a tank's purpose is to block the damage which this card does very skillfully.
════════════════════════════════

Card Effect ||

  • Flying.png | Has a 25% increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability
  • Return Magic.png | When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker
  • Scavenger.png | Gains 1 max health each time any monster dies
  • Taunt.png | All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to)
  • Void.png | Magic damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage

All of these abilities make Dark Ha'on a strong tank.The best abilities are Taunt and Flying which allows Dark Haon to protect the back row as they deal damage to defeat the enemies.

════════════════════════════════

Strengths Weaknesses ||

|| Dark Ha'on has great abilities, Taunt and Flying. Both of these work hand in hand to avoid opponent's damage. Unlike other tank who directly blocks the attacks, Dark Ha'on skillfully evades them instead.

|| All Taunt Ability users have one common weakness, high damage with high speed. *__Hit Fast, Hit Hard__* strategies are main weakness of this because your supports are not able to do the supporting at higher speed. This weakness though is hard to pull off and requires many specific cards. This, however, is still a clear weakness of Taunt ability users.
════════════════════════════════

Positioning ||

  • The best position for this card is on the front. This card is a tank and the best position would be in front of your damage dealers. Another position though is as a secondary tank. If you're going to do this, make sure that there's a rule set that allows melee to attack from positions other than the front.
    ════════════════════════════════

Compatibility ||

  • The best combo with this card for me is with snipers. Death element does not have a support healer which means if the match drags longer, Dark Ha'on will eventually die. It's best to employ lots of snipers to take care of healers and other supports first, This allows the game to be on a faster pace than normal.

Lastly...

Before doing the final verdict, here is the sample of a battle using this card.

Dark Haon Battle.gif

Positioning

Positioning.PNG
Dark Ha'on is a full tank. His speed, and flying ability with Taunt allows him to dodge most of the damage while trying to tank them. His main position would be on the front to protect your damage dealers in the back.

Round 1

Round 1 End.jpg
By end of Round 1, there's not really a big change. The armor is quite bothersome to push through but my team was able to provide huge damage to my opponent's shield. The biggest issue in this game is my opponent's positioning wherein he used melees without rule set that allows melee to hit from the back row. The only creature dealing damage on his side is the Elven Defender. Dark Ha'on can block the damage while my back row damages everyone else.

Round 2

Round 2 End.jpg
By end of Round 2, Elven Defender is down to half health. The biggest damage contributor is Sand Worm dealing 5 damage per turn. With insufficient damage, I should be winning this game fairly easy.

Round 3

Round 3 End.jpg
By end of Round 3, my opponent's Elven Defender went down along with Spineback Turtle.

Round 4

Round 4 End.jpg
By end of Round 4, Dark Ha'on is only down a few health due to dodges from his abilities and speed. Serpent of Eld is down to half health and I should win in a round or two.

Round 5

Round 5 End.jpg
Game ended at Round 5 with Sand Worm dealing the final damage. Dark Ha'on only took minor injuries as most damage were dodged.

Final Thoughts

With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that Dark Ha'on is a really good tank. Unlike others who tanks by blocking the damages, Dark Ha'on taunts everyone to attack him and then dodges those attacks. He's a good tank for Death element as the Taunt is specially good in protecting the back row as most back row damage dealers have low health.

Funny Note: For the longest time, from the day I started Splinterlands up to now that I did this review, I thought Dark Ha'on was an eagle or a bird of some sort. Taking a closer look, he's more like a panther with wings.Also, the pink part was a dragon of some sort. I thought it was a feather.

All in all, I would give it...
