I agree with your mindset on how it only rewards the biggest buyers during the sales. It just doesn't really seem to make sense for the smaller people. I guess it could be a bit different if people made a pool but I just don't think it works out well for the non-whales.

Because this is a leaderboard instead of a bulk discount, it is difficult to even make a pool. I joined the pool made by @nealmcspadden during the previous Promotion. It was a very good experience. With the unpredictability of a leaderboard the best I could see is few Dolphins trying to pool resources.
