Roy Keane singled out James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jordan Henderson as the three players integral to Liverpool FC’s dominant 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Reds secured an incredible victory in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at Anfield to take a huge step towards booking their place in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
The in-form Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool FC the lead in the 12th minute with a close-range finish, before Oxlade-Chamberlain made it 2-0 to the hosts with a brilliant long-range effort.
And Sadio Mane then made it 3-0 with a neat header from Salah’s cross to put Liverpool FC firmly in control of the tie.
Manchester City know that they will have to score five goals to progress if Liverpool FC net an away goal at The Etihad on Tuesday night next week in the return leg.
And former Manchester United star Keane was particularly impressed by the displays of three Liverpool FC stars on Wednesday night.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Keane said: “Milner, Henderson and Oxlade-Chamberlain gave Liverpool the foundation to win the game.”
Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Everton in the top flight on Saturday lunchtime.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek Champions League qualification for next season.
