Thugs in the NFL! Eagles Michael Bennett assaults Super Bowl Security??

in #sports6 years ago (edited)

Authorities issued a warrant Friday for the arrest of three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett, who is accused of injuring a paraplegic woman as he tried get onto the field at last year's Super Bowl to celebrate with his brother.

The Harris County district attorney's office said a grand jury indicted the 32-year-old Bennett, acquired earlier this month by the Philadelphia Eagles, on a felony count of injury to the elderly.

Bennett, who attended Alief High School, was a spectator at the game at NRG Stadium in Houston in February 2017 when he tried to get onto the field immediately afterward to see his brother, Martellus Bennett, a tight end for the Patriots at the time. Prosecutors allege he pushed through security personnel, including a 66-year-old woman in a wheelchair who was a stadium employee and who had told him to use a different entrance to access the field. Bennett is also accused of pushing two other people, including another woman, and ignoring a request by a police officer to stop as he made his way onto the field.

“It’s very offensive to me that a man whose supposed to be an example, professional althlete would think that it’s OK to treat people like this,” Acevedo said.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Bennett allegedly told the people he had pushed, "You all must know who I am and I can own this (expletive). I'm going down to the field, whether you like it or not."

Acevedo called Bennett "morally bankrupt" for pushing the two women. Police said the disabled woman suffered a sprained shoulder when she was allegedly pushed by Bennett, hitting the back of her 800-pound, motorized wheelchair.

"Mr. Bennett may think that because he's an NFL player and some time passed ... he may have thought that, number one, rules don't apply to him, number two, he doesn't have to respect the dignity of a paraplegic woman who's trying to earn a living," Acevedo said at a news conference.

Bennett is accused of assaulting the employee moments before his post-Super Bowl LI interview with KPRC’s Randy McIlvoy.

Sort:

Damn paraplegic women, I mean how disgusting it can get if it's true, though no human is superior over any human but it's sad to find to suppress a fellow human who ain't blessed as you are, and that who is your fan..Anyways It ain't good to hear..

Put him in jail, total thug....

What a crazy article. Loved all the reports how the attendance and audience went down this past year.

Seems like humility is an alien concept to him.

Interesting post dear, i like it and enjoy it, thanks for sharing with us, keep it up. And im waiting for your next post. Thanks

He sounds like a thug to me. It's about time clubs and coaches set a higher standards of acceptable behaviours. A culture where bad behaviour is overlooked by coaches (even in high school) for players who score points.
I heard the case of a high school coach in New Jersey who benched the star player student and goal scorer in a finals for bad behaviour and drug use. It cost him his job. It's got to the point where winning has become more important than everything. A very sad state

This type of behavior is unbearable and those who Don't understand this and think they can save themselves by some bucks. It the time to show them no one is above humanity. No one is above the law and rules weather he is poor or rich or a common human or a celebrity.

Y'all must know who I am. I can own this mother(expletive). I'm going onto this field whether you like it or not.

did you hear about this dialog ,what was he trying to do ,Such a bullshit person ,

morally corupt person ....

I went through this article recently
A Harris County grand jury Friday indicted Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett for the felony charge of injury of the elderly for injuring a 66- year-old paraplegic who was working at NRG Stadium to control access to the field at Super Bowl LI
He should really pay for this act, how can such a person representing a team do such a mischievous act. Glam, and fame has torn humanity apart from him

This ain't sportsmanship, disgusting

No matter how much a person rises he should always be down to earth , he should respect humanity ....
It is because of these people he has got a fan ,he needs to respect them ...and when it comes to women man should be very gentle to them...
RIP

It doesn't matter who you are.
This type of behavior is not acceptable. They need to make him understand that..

Bennett brothers are good players. But their head won't ever let them be great... They are funny and that's all. Too bad they don't have a brain for sport...

this type of behaviour is not acceptable
whether it is celebrity or common man

hopefully the problem quickly completed @broncnutz

as a football lover it's a bad news for us. but thanks sir for sharing the news with us.

And where is sportsmanship in this. I think he must be punished and punished double for this behavior even to an old woman. How could he push a woman ?
It's really sad to see this from such a person.
I say equality and equality means harsh punishment for him.

oOops! its bad news for that women, who disabled and suffered a sprained shoulder, its really bad

Bad and sad news for the audience. Its very disgusting to suppress another fellow who is not equal to you. Sympathies

Oh well to know this update..but its bad news for the audience and the game.

Its a shame that such people have no dignity. I was another video where a basketball player was hitting a woman in the stairs. Quite disturbing.

Rules are apply to everybody no meter who you are

What? This is so bad.... Awwwww... Our so called leaders and role models are supposed to always be at their best behaviours in public. This is so sad.
Although some of them say they were pushed to the wall... For crying out loud, you're a star and all eyes are on you. Now, nobody will wanna listen to whatever explanation he has if he has one though.
This is just sad to hear this morning.

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

It is sad that these types of stories continue to stain the NFL. These guys are put on a pedestal at a very young age and treated like kings. They are “kept” out of trouble and the system doesn’t always apply to them. They are thought that they are superstars and therefore people will pretty much do anything for them and they can get away with pretty much anything. There needs to be more emphasis placed on building character in these athletes before they get to the pros. I’m not saying that this is all players by any means but there are enough that it has created an unfortunate stereotype about the entire league.

Celebrity or a common person. No one can do this as per law.. And law is equal for everyone hopefully.

rules are for everyone and no one is gonna hide away from that

No matter how much a person rises he should always be down to earth , he should respect humanity ....

Thanks for you great post sir. I liked your post. Keep it up and well done.

I like Keenum, he played well, and he is not a cancer to the team like some players can be. I think he will do well, you shipping broc osqueeler to the Canadian league?

Doesnt he know what the real responsibility means.

His face is hilarious!

that's really thug life he can't be hiding anywhere now

Lesson we all must learn from this. No matter how highly placed we are in the society, we should never disrespect anyone.
I know the law will deal with this and will serve as a lesson to others.

True leaders always listens and follows instruction

I wonder if celebrity status has made him feel he can do anything without consequence? Probably!

thugs finally going in jail

The NFL...National felons league....good post again!!

these things also happen behind fans no one see it

He deserve purnishment

Yup this kind of crap certainly won't help the NFL and their reputation. Granted I haven't heard Bennett's side of the story - and there are always two sides to a story, but still, to bring felony charges against him, obviously the authorities felt there was enough malicious intent to bring charges against him. Quite honestly, I've never been a fan of his anyway, and I wish I could say I was more surprised, but this what we have become accustomed to in the NFL for years now - a bunch of off-season garbage with guys getting in trouble, and suspended, etc. Man would it be nice if we could have one off-season where all the focus was on the upcoming season and how teams have better positioned themselves for the future. Instead we get arrests, suspensions, inevitably a bunch of blah about Jerry Jones and Tom Brady, and that's about it.

I think he let the excitement get the best of him and probably didn't realize his own strength. I don't think he intended to injure anyone but he definitely needs to work on being more humble. He should apologize and pay a fine.
