Edin Dzeko gets the first goal with some powerful centre-forward play. He picks up a long ball and rampages through the Barca back line. Umtiti just gave up there; needs to do much better.
Dzeko is pulled down conspicuously by Pique and Roma hero De Rossi slots in the penalty.
Manolas flicks in a header at the near post and the Roma bench goes absolutely mental. They deserved it; Roma outplayed Barca in every way tonight.
Manolas was massive and Valverde's Barcelona lived to my expectations! When he was Olympiakos' coach he dominated the league but suffered from disappointing eliminations in the UEFA Cup/Europe League. Both times the team underperformed at the worst times! Barcelona should have also paid more attention to Athletic Bilbao's run last year in the Europa League last year, where Athletic was eliminated by Apoel Nicosia in a massive upset. I personally think Barcelona needed to change things around a bit more last summer and Valverde's appointment was a missed opportunity. I don't see Barcelona winning the Champions League while he's in charge, but most league games will go his way. Real Madrid for the triple-crown?
