The Sacramento Kings capped what I would like to call a very productive off-season tonight, when they inked Vince Carter to a one year 8 million dollar (reportedly) contract.
Small forward was our lone question mark, after our last two signings that I documented in my last post. I was hopeful that we would sign another mentor who could still play as well as command the youngsters respect. I'd like to think a future Hall of Fame player would do just that. What I love most about this trade, aside from the obvious mentor role and the fact that he can still score is VC is still believe it or not a very solid defender.

Vinsanity played just under 25 minutes per game last season for the Grizzlies. He averaged 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting nearly 38 percent from three point land.

Our roster now sits at 15, after Bogs and Mason sign their contracts. FA is over, and now starting tomorrow NBA Summer League begins for the team. I know it technically started nearly a week ago but my team doesn't play till Friday evening, so in my mind it doesn't count! Now we get three games in four nights! Yeah, baby!
Here is how I see the depth chart (as it sits now):
Buddy/Bogs/Temple/Richardson
Carter/Temple/Jackson
Skal/ Randolph/Giles
WCS /Randolph/Kosta/PapaG
As you can see their is a pretty nice balance on the roster now and the youngsters aren't going to be gifted minutes at any spot. They will have to earn them, which is the way it should be.
If you are a Sacramento Kings fan, we have suffered for a long time and there have been a lot of questionable decisions made even recently as the Cousins trade last season. However we seem to have a clear direction now and the front office additions seem to be making all the right moves. We finally are rebuilding the right way. Will it work? Who knows? All I know is they have blown it up and are getting the right type of youngsters and vets alike to lead the way. Go Kings!
