I don't mind cheating in baseball, even if the Yankee's do it. But I hate cheating in Football especially when the Patriots do it.
Baseball and Football are different. Baseball is an agrarian game. Baseball has dug outs, mounds, fields, and bull pens. Baseball is played in a park. There are no time limits in Baseball, a game could take all day.
Football is an industrial game. A Football game has a set time limit. It is divided into four quarters of 15 minutes each. There are three breaks, one between the first and second quarter, then a longer break half way through the game and another short break between third and fourth quarter--Much like the breaks a standard work day. Whereas Baseball has home runs, Football has goals.
Rules in an agrarian world are derived from nature. Cheating against natural laws is akin to lifehacks. Tricking an animal into the barn isn't wrong, it's smart. Fertilizing seeds so they grow in poor soil is a victory over the poor soil. And if one farmer is better at overcoming the limits nature, or rigging the game in his favor, he is rewarded.
Rules in industry are akin to laws. Management sets the law and workers must obey or be fired. Cheating in industry is a violation of rules and leads to termination of employment.
I hope our modern day rule of law culture doesn't ruin the agrarian character of Baseball.
