Reason for the unusual jersey numbers of cricketers

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

The world of sports is incomplete without the players and their jersey numbers. While legendary sportsmen like Lionel Messi, Sachin Tendulkar, Diego Maradona were known for wearing the jersey number 10, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have the number 7 attached to them. We have seen cricketers don weird jersey numbers over the years which made them stand out on the field.

Chris Gayle (333, 175)

Chris Gayle wearing the jersey with the number 333 on the back is a pretty familiar sight for all cricket fans. The number 333 represents the big West Indian’s highest score in the longest format of the game which came against the Sri Lankans. Chris Gayle also donned the jersey number 175 which marks his highest score in the twenty over format.

Hardik Pandya (228)

Hardik Pandya’s jersey number 228 refers to his first-class highest score of 228 which he made playing for Baroda during his Under-16 days. Pandya has been a revolution for the Indian cricket team ever since his selection and has won the hearts of millions of fans. His knock against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final will be remembered by Indian cricket fans for years to come.

Morne Morkel (65)

Morne Morkel has been a lethal weapon for the South Africans for a long time. His deadly bouncers combined with a raw pace is a nightmare for the best of batsmen. Morkel wears the jersey number 65 because it represents his height which stands at a massive 6 feet 5 inches. The bowler has done incredibly well for Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders as well.
