A year ago, the Celtics story was a lack of continuity, with only four people returning from teams that reached the final of the conference in 2017. This year, they returned 13, including their top 10 players in terms of last season's played minutes. However, they added Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward to the team that will reach The Final if not miss a ton of open jumpers in Game 7 against Cleveland. With the continued development of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, they have a large number of weapons. Even so, Al Horford remain their most important player and arguably the best player in the Eastern Conference to enter the season, considering he played well in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid in the playoffs.
