Although it was what you can call it as a boring day of test cricket. But it wasn't an ordinary day for Jamie Porter, Essex pacer who got his maiden call up for the first test match squad against India.

Jamie Porter has been on a consistent run since past two years. He has nearly taken about 156 wickets in 34 matches he has played. Adil Rashid was a surprise selection in the test squad. But one can say his selection may be on the basis of his recent good form in limited overs format. The fact that Indian skipper Virat Kohli struggled against him must have had influence on the selectors.

However it is not a sure-shot that Porter will straight away make his international test debut.Because Sam Curran is the most probable option as third seamer besides James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

Coming back to this three day practice match India didn't start off well. Dinesh Karthik wasn't able to add anything to his overnight score. He departed for well made 82. Karun Nair wasn't able to make full use of the opportunity as he was out-bowled by Aaron Beard at 4.

Hardik Pandya brought up his half century but eventually he had to make his way back to pavilion after scoring 51. Rishabh Pant played a fine cameo scoring 34 off 26 balls. Jadeja on 15 was the last wicket to fall as India ended up on 395.

Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav were the pick of the bowlers as both picked couple of wickets. Umesh bowled with great pace and skill. Shami wasn't up to the mark as he conceded 59 of his 14 overs without picking any wicket.

But spinners Ravichandaran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav didn't bowl at all. Ashwin is said to have pick minor injury. Although Kuldeep bowled during the net session. Jadeja did bowl today and his figures read 17 runs from 2 overs something which you don't expect from him because of his accuracy. .

At the end of day 2 the scoreboard read 237 for 5.
