The youngster Ceballos is an attacking midfielder who can play as a LM, RM, CAM or CM. Being a starter at Real Betis since an early age he grabbed FC Barcelona's and Real Madrid's attention after completing an amazing tournament performance at the European U-21 tournament played this summer where he won the Player of the Tournament Award.
Professionally, the FC Barcelona offer was a more logical choice given the position he plays, and the need FC Barcelona has for such a position. Being offered the opportunity to become a short-term starter replacing Andres Iniesta (33 years old). However, the same way it has happened recently, Ceballos chose to sign for the Spanish rivals Real Madrid. Theo Hernandez, Vinicius Jr and now Ceballos have all chosen to play for Real Madrid even though Real Madrid currently have an overbooking in its positions, specially, the midfield area where Los Blancos have 8 talented players, that's a lot of competition and probably less minutes available.
