The Raiders face the Chargers at 1305 Pacific Standard Raider Time this Sunday. The Raiders are 1-7 and people are starting to get pissed at Chucky.
Carr did well during the Colts game but we eventually lost. "Done!" said Cromartie who promptly retired after the game.
Then the 49rs. Ugh. A miserable 34-3 loss. Carr was benched. After that one Bruce Irvin was released and picked up by the Falcons.
Just because we are in a state of amazement at the turn of events this season doesn't mean we will join the attack on Gruden. We won't make excuses for him, rather try to determine what is actually his fault and what isn't.
The Raiders right now have cap space and a shit ton of good picks, many in the first round. But where does that leave us for this season? Mack has missed a few games for the Bears so far. So hindsight on that one is looking ok. Cooper was unimpressive in the Cowboys' last game, so we shouldn't dwell on that trade either.
That trade deadline we mentioned last article? Nothing.
As bad as things are if you truly ask yourself what was directly under Gruden's control it's hard to say. Some things are just out of his hands. Name one bad decision he's made that he had total control over. Remember, it's possible these players who left so far didn't want to be here. The frustration is understandable but we ask Gruden critics what they would have done if they were in his shoes.
The Chargers
The last time the Raiders played the Chargers audio was gathered of a play call made by Philip Rivers. He shouted, "Nice defense, huh?!" right to our face, then told us what the play was gonna be, then proceeded to get a first down. This hurts on a visceral level. We lost that game 26-10. The Chargers are 6-2 and 10 point favorites for this Sunday. My advice is to use Philip Rivers' arrogance as fuel. He's just another Romo, periodic flashes of brilliance but a playoffs nothing burger. Use the anger and deny him the satisfaction.
We have no clue how this will play out but it doesn't look good. Will the Raiders win another game this season? If so let us know which one so we can cash in.
Since this season is basically over we might as well punch Roethlisberger right in the face again this December so we have something to cheer for.
