Far From Excellent But Applaudable Win for Manchester United

in #sportstalk5 years ago

We witnessed the red devils return to football action yesterday at Optus Stadium against Australian League outfit Perth Glory. It was curiosity satisfying anticipating how the reds are preparing for the new season after ending last season trophyless while city rivals Manchester United and cross town rivals Liverpool display great strength home and abroad.

Manchester United are known for Galactico signings but none has been brought into the club in the transfer window with a galactic tag price. Right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was bought to replace or fill up the space left by Antonio Valencia while Daniel James offers searing space. Both players featured in the 2-0 win against Perth Glory and impressed greatly with experience coming into the fore in the second half to give them an amazing flow in attack.

The match between Manchester United and Perth Glory played out a first half of decent performance from both teams with United doing much of the attacking and the A-league team much of the defending. Half time saw Manchester United coach roll out a different eleven that included Pogba, Mata and Rashford. Better chances were created and the attack was much more lively up until the aforementioned players combined to open the scoring. The ball was laid onto the path of Pogba who flicked it over for Rashford to finish with his left foot, exciting play there. Garner would go on to score a wonderful goal from the edge of the box with just few minutes left to the end of the match. Not bad a start to a new season for the reds.

Manchester United fans are hoping the club would do better in signing professional players just like other giants teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona are doing but Coach Solskjaer seems to prefer a long term solution to the team over short term with his preference for a team of younger generation. Issues remain over the uncertainty of the club’s most expensive player Paul Pogba’s future at the club as he remains constantly linked with a move away to Spanish giants Real Madrid or back to Italy's Juventus.

Pogba is not the only player with question marks all over his head at the club as striker Romelu Lukaku might leave the team if current reports are anything to go by. The Belgian striker wasn’t part of the squad that faced Perth but the club reported he is away with a knock. We will have to see what happens in coming weeks.
