Disturbances in environments or routines (overnight travel, time zone changes, evening training, or late-night competition) can desynchronize endogenous circadian rhythms and normal sleep patterns

Disruptions in circadian and sleep patterns can increase homeostatic pressure and influence the regulation of emotions, body temperature, and circulation of melatonin and cause a significant increase in sleep latency
