Know Radish?

in #sprouts7 years ago

I once read an interesting fact about radish that grabbed my attention right away - it helps fight body odour! Since deodorants are loaded with chemicals and the natural ones don’t seem to work, it sounded too good to be true so I tried it. So far so good, I can actually ditch the deodorant! Now our sandwiches, salads and soups, scrambled eggs and pizzas are jazzed up with radish sprouts!

Not only does radish truly fight body odour, it helps clear mucous from the respiratory tract, and can be used for overcoming colds and flus. Try a radish poultice on congested areas and eat radish sprouts during the cold and flu season!

Radish is also rich in vitamin B, E & K, and the minerals potassium, iron, phosphorous and magnesium. In addition they also contain carotene, chlorophyll, amino acids, trace elements and anti oxidants. Did you know radish contains 10 times more calcium than potatoes and more vitamin C than pineapple?

We like to load up our pizzas and pasta with sprouts, including radish of course!

Our friends at Ol' Freetown Farm on Grand Bahama ramp up the volume with a dash of our radish sprouts on their delicious meals!

These tiny, mighty immune boosters are the most popular variety of sprouts among Japanese families, and according to WHO life expectancy statistics, they are among the longest living humans on earth! We grow radish sprouts and micro greens at our organic farm OM GROWN GREENS, located in the Bahamas. Most people buy them for their delicious spicy flavour and are unaware of the profound health benefits! Our babies are grown in jars and stored in a cool, dry place away from indirect sunlight.

The micro greens are grown in trays, start off stacked up and then trays are separated at about 3 days after sprouting. Both growing techniques provide a healthy harvest in one week!

Radish sprouts help to detoxify the liver and gall bladder, and help relieve constipation. They contain plant oestrogen similar to human hormone oestrogen which can relieve symptoms of PMS, menopause, hot flushes and cystic fibrosis.

We hope the next time you are in the produce section you will grab at least one radish, or better yet lucky you if you have radish SPROUTS grab those babies and add life to your plate!
