Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nigeria shot stopper Carl Ikeme has publicly declared that his career in football has come to an end.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria could not take the 32 year old goalkeeper to the world cup in Russia due to the fact that he was diagnosed with Leukemia in July 2017. It was later confirmed sometime last month June that he is currently in remission.

Taking heed of his doctor's advice, the Nigerian man has taken the bold step of quitting his football career as a goalkeeper to avoid future break down and risk of life.

He became a part of Wolves team in year 2000 as a 14 year old boy and has so far played 274 domestic matches in all competitions, out of which 200 came for the Molineux club.

Ikeme took to Twitter to show his appreciation to his lovers and supporters, informing them he has had his last day as a footballer.
