The former chelsea captain and legend of the club has said that he will be ready for coaching but not immediately. He said that will not happen in the next four or five years.

Terry was recently appointed as assistant coach to Dean Smith who takes up the job at Aston Villa, the championship side seeking promotion to the premier league. The speculations had been that John Terry was being interviewed for the position of the coach of Aston Villa. At a point it was rumoured that he was going to assist Thierry Henry as the manager of the side. However, things didn't quite work out that way and John Terry is now the assistant coach for the championship side while Henry manages Monaco. John Terry says he feels like he is not quite ready for coaching career as he has a lot to learn. He says he will use his time as the assistant coach off the championship side to learn from the coaches who have really shown that they have the quality to take the side to greater heights.

John terry says he has learnt from past managers and that he is like a sponge and will try to absorb as much knowledge as he can while on the job. He is currently 37 years and recently retired from professional football and says his days of playing football is now a past life and that the only thing left to achieve is to become a coach.
