The Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is full of expectations that he can once again make it to the Spain national team after the new coach Luis Enrique declared a Clean Slate in the national squad.

The former Chelsea player Mata who was snubbed by Spain preceding their awful World Cup campaign in Russia, featured last in 2016 for his nation. However, the dismissal of the former Spain coach Julen Lopetegui after Spain were knocked out by Russia, and the arrival of the new coach Luis Enrique, has revived Mata's hope of making it into the national team again.

"You know that feeling you feel when you realize there has come a chance. The excitement that follows the possibility of entering your national team - exactly that I am feeling now. I really wish to return to the team and play with the young players, I believe the future is bright for Spain." Mata told ESPN.

The midfielder debuted in 2009 and fortunately was a useful part of the team that became the world champions in South Africa 2010. He has so far featured 41 times for Spain and was able to find the net 10 times.
