RE: Splintertalk.io - Let's talk about card balancing

in #spt6 years ago

I would be curious how HODLers would react to rebalance. Another dynamic is the card rental market. If it is announced ahead of time that a card will be rebalanced, would that change lease dynamics for that card leading up to the change? Stuff like that.

Personally, I'm a fan of immutability. I lean towards appended changes rather than outright editing. This would mean that if a card is particularly unbalanced, introduce a new card to create balance rather than nerf the overpowered card. But that's just a preference of mine. I'm not a game master.

Sort:

Seems like that is the current way of balancing, good business model though. Players have to keep paying to max the new cards to stay competitive. :)
Having said that, all the new orbs/promos cards can't seem to stop the meta Rennyn team. I been trying to use the new ranged sneak monster but still not successful against Rennyn. That bugger is just tooo strong.

If they introduce a few more card low-value with the ability to Cleanse, like SILVERSHIELD BARD (Promo), that could serve to rebalance without costing too much. E.g., to oppose Rennyn, a 1 Mana card with a new ability like a debuff on n random ranged attack, might be all they need. That debuff doesn't have to remove an attack point. It could just introduce an "Inaccuracy" curse.

I 100% agree with your point on immutability.

Not only is it more in the spirit of all things blockchain, but it keeps interest up in the next set.

It seems like the current Orb promo set has not attracted much in the way of market activity.
