We are on the same page, my best Centauri mage is all the rage! (A Splinterlands battle challenge)

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards (DEC is the name of their native token) can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and on the lately added Binance Smart Chain (you can provide liquidity to mine CUB on Cub Finance). You can also provide liquidity on ETH network, but this is a bit more expensive, even if you get some Uniswap bonus in DEC paid straight to your game account (I got 3-4000 DEC monthly with around 60K DEC providing liquidity). DEC is similar with a stablecoin, most of the time, 1000 DEC being $1 most of the time, but right now it is much more than that.

And now it is easier than before (one of my main complain was about beginners not having enough cards at the start) because they offer quite a lot of cards not to the one starting to play, making it a more pleasant experience - I remember losing game after game when I just started 7 month ago, so I am glad that the developers sorted this out. There is an airdrop daily, for a whole year, currently at day 61/365, i think, and you can still get some nice governance tokens just by playing the game for the next year. Everything counts, cards, DEC on HIVE, WAX, ETH and BSC, lands, titles, skins. You can maximize the airdrop by staking all you SPS for a 100% APR right now. You can rent your expensive or useful cards now, so extra DEC is coming weekly. Chaos Legion cards are coming soon, pfirts we have the pre-sale, where you may use some vouchers to get access to the packs early. There are bonuses up to 20% depending on how many packs you buy, also, you get a discounted price if you use SPS tokens. All lands were sold out and will be introduced next, i believe, with a price of 4-500$ each at the moment. Just check this awesome page about what are the Lands supposed to do. Also, the guild brawl will be improved, with new monsters, maybe even summoners that you can use only on brawls, and some more resources. Gladiators are called, and i cannot wait to test them.

The Centauri Mage is a Rare Earth Monster, with a high 7 Mana cost, Return Fire ability (return some of the ranged damage suffered) at level 1 and Repair ability (Restore Armor each turn) at level 5. At max level it has 3 Magic damage, 4 Speed, no Armor and 10 Health. To buy a level 1 card will cost you now around $1.30. It is a good card for certain rulesets, when you think a lot of ranged cards will be used, like No Magic or No Melee ones. Especially when is a low mana battle, due to the high amount of Health.

So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:

Mana Limit: 27

Rulesets: Unprotected (No armor) and Rise of the Commons (Just common and rare mosters to be used)

Teams:

Mine - Summoner: Mylor Crowling (Thorns - return melee damage bonus), with a self-healing Flesh Golem as main tank, back up by a Failed Summoner with a Reflect skill (Magic damage return to the attacker). Centauri Mage was next, to return some of that Ranged damage, and a decent 2 Magic attack, followed by two ranged attackers, Child of the Forest with Snipe and Venari SeedSmith with Scavenger ( +1 Health when a monster dies), with a Creeping Ooze on the last spot, for some extra Speed.

Opponent - Summoner: Zintar Mortalis (decrease enemy melee attack by 1), with Undead Rex as main tank using Trample (killing one monster, will attack the next one), Cursed Slimeball as fodder, Undead Priest to decrease enemy health by 1, and to make some damage, Undead Archer with Affliction (to stop Healing), Boogeyman with Reduce Speed and Reduce Armor abilities and Twisted Jester with Snipe (attack ranged or magic users).

This was a game boost reduction, with me betting on ranged and magic damage return and him trying to use Trample, reducing my speed, armor and health. My Flesh Golem died first, while I was attacking many of his cards separately. The one by one, the opponent lost hist tank, the Undead Rex, the Cursed Slimeball, the Undead Priest and the Undead Archer, before my Failed Summoner was gone. Then, few attacks later, his Boogeyman and his Jester died too. At least 3 of his cards were superior to mine, but having the other 3 just level 1 made all the difference.

Star of the game - The tank, the Flesh Golem, for defending the team briliantly.

On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising to 1 million. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum. Next, I am slowly building some SPT power to manually curate on Splinterlalk.io also.

All the best,

George
