A nightmare from the deeps

Time to share another battle! And this week's challenge is with one of best cards in chaos legion collection for me!

Not only he's one of the strangest monsters I've seen, he's also a beast in the battlefield! Even from level one, he's already a decent card to play in higher leagues:

  • Opportunity from level 1; not many cards with this useful skill. Besides, 3 melee attack and 6 HP at base level is pretty decent!

  • Poison from level 6

  • Demoralize at max level, with 5 melee attack and 7 HP

The only downside I see about the card is the slightly high mana cost, at 6; but those skills definitely make up for it!

I tend to use it with other opportunity monsters, if I can; mine is still at level 3, but as I wrote, already enough to be usable in battle. I still don't have the new water summoner, and tend to pair the deeplurker with the dragon splinter, as it was the case in this battle:

Rulesets:

  • Armored up: all monsters have extra +2 armor
  • Healed out: no healing from monsters or summoners

Magic tends to be used more in these rulesets, as a way to avoid the extra armor and add quick damage. I tried to use another strategy, eliminating the armor and going almost full melee:

  • Lord Arianthus as tank; having a decent tank to endure heavy damage is normally a must, even more with no heals.
  • Scale doctor: one of my favourite suports. No triage here, but more HP to all my cards and mainly, the rust ability, to remove the +2 armor bonus.
  • Deeplurker, my first damage dealer
  • Dragon jumper, one of the best opportunity cards; fast and with a ton of useful stats
  • Furious chicken: cannon fodder
  • Torrent fiend: cannon fodder nº 2

The extra armor for the two back monsters was great to burn some more strikes in case of sneak attacks, but my opponent had a similar strategy, using a monster with the rust ability as well, and a legendary summoner to decrease HP, speed, and attack.

First round was already a bloodbath: Assassin took out one of the back row, and the redemption ability from my opponent's tank took out the other card. Luckily for me my 2 damage dealers had decent HP, or the amount of monsters with weaken together with redemption could have wiped almost all my cards.

The magic reflect from the tank made some damage as well, and my two opportunity monsters cleared what was left.

I had some luck here, and that's why I like my dragon jumper so much: fast speed and flying makes it harder to hit, and two attacks missed their target. Since the assassin could land poison, there was a chance that it could change the tide of the battle.

But at the beginning of round 3 there was only the tank and the assassin on the other team, and the deeplurker delivered the finishing blow.

You can see the entire battle here!

Do you have any favourite deeplurker strategy? I'm still not using much of the new cards, since most of my packs are still unopened, but this is one of the cards I definitely want to level up!

See you on the battlefield!
