We all know that the Splinterlands Land sale is coming up, and so far there is not a lot of details. Also the Splinterlands team said they do not know 100% exactly how they will be doing the land sale either and they are open to suggestions.
To start off I just want to say that these are only my ideas and not any official plans from Splinterlands. I am not a part of the Splinterlands team...just another fellow player wanting to make the game we all love more enjoyable for all of us and even newcomers!
I also wanted to throw out these ideas to the community, because I wanted to see what everyone else thought, and also get feedback or even other ideas as well!
In this last AMA Yabapmatt stated that the upcoming land sale might not be plots of land on an actual map, but might come in the form of possibly cards that represent a plot of land, and that land would not be tied to any actual lot on a map, but would give the player more abilities or options to place buildings for making potions and other items.
"This is to allow for further development in the future, and also will not tie any player to any specific plot which might lose or gain value due to future additions. "
Since we did not get a whole lot of details beyond this, and even Yabapmatt said there is nothing set in stone yet, and also asked the community to come up with more ideas.
So I reached out to Matt (aka Yabapmatt) to throw some ideas around, but as I am sure anyone who has tried to reach out to him knows that he stays very busy and does not have a lot of time to read through a lot of posts or ideas.
Here is the ideas, and please let me know what you think!
First of all, I can see the benefits of land packs and different land variations, but considering these will be NFTs, I wonder if there will be a plan to attach these to specific lots on the real Splinterlands map? 🤔

If the software is open-source, then I can see this being developed by a third-party, and hopefully in VR! However, we have not heard whether Splinterlands plans to develop a real version of “The Splinterlands” with land that is able to be plotted and purchased?
I had hoped that this would be the case, because last year I made a post called Splinterlands VR where I talk about a world like Skyrim VR that is based on “The Splinterlands” and our lots and land would be like Second Life, where we can buy and sell real estate, in game items, and navigate through this digital multiplayer world.
So in my mind I have hoped for this “Ready Player One” version of Splinterlands, and I thought this land sale was going to be the beginning (or at least the foundation) of that whole idea.
However it does not seem like that will be the case...at least not yet.
If not...I have another idea for the land sale & “The Splinterlands”
What if Splinterlands created a visual map on the site (think Super Mario World) and one can go through each region of the lands at their own pace to unlock new rewards and types of rewards in each region as they progress..

Maybe you can get certain “monsters” in certain regions as rewards for completing certain quests or tasks in that region.
Everyone can start at a region with lower rewards. (Like Common reward cards, low DEC, and even like 1 potion.)
Now the higher regions would have things like Rare cards, then Epics, and then Legendaries at the last region. Also the other reward items would be higher as well like 64k DEC, 100 potions, or other rare items for that region.
Lastly to allow the items and reward cards to change, the regions would change every Season (like Fortnite) for which region that will be the Common Region for that season, all the way up to the Legendary Region.
Also with the land packs, they can represent a certain region. For example, someone could get a pack and it could have 3 Kyhmeria common 1 acre lots, 1 Mortis rare lot that might be 5 acres, and 1 Legendary lot in AzmAré that could be an entire field or valley.
Then you may be able to place certain cards (that card would be on hold and unusable) on those lots...like a level 1 Baby Unicorn on a 1 acre Kyhmeria lot could produce 1 potion per hour, and the higher level the Baby Unicorn, the more potions per hour can be produced.
Each card and each region can produce their own potions, items, or spells.
And since they said that these items will be able to be sold on a marketplace as NFTs, maybe have the Legendary and Alchemy potions do more.
For example, if a newbie with low level cards starts out in a common region, but wants to be able to pull a Rare, Epic, or Legendary card/item from the higher regions, the spells or potions can allow players (especially newbies) to “pull” these higher cards/items from other regions with these spells or potions for completing their quest or task in the early regions.
Also there could be Rare and Epic potions as well for this same reason.
I think that by making the game more immersive like this, and giving a visual map of The Splinterlands, this gives everyone a visual path to follow, and allows players to see the whole Splinterlands! This way (just like Mario or even Pokémon) the player feels like they are part of the world, and are moving through the game!
Conclusion
Obviously this stuff takes time, and right now the team has a ton of other things on their plate. However, if this could help the game, and help keep new (and older) players constantly active, then I think everyone who can help should do everything we can!
I still hope one day that I get to ferry people to distant lands on my Gold Dragon in VR, or even be on a Virtual Ship and look down in the deep seas of AzmAré to see the glowing blue eyes of the Phantom of the Abyss!
Either way, I think that anything that brings more players online, and immerses us INTO the game, would be worth it!
Please let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas as well!!

Interesting ideas @stealthtrader. I like many of them and while I don't know how hard it will be to develop such a project, it would be cool.
Adding to your idea of you ferrying people on your gold dragon, I am hoping that they create extra value for each card in the current game by having them do such tasks... So while dragons might be able to give flight and thus move people/things quickly (giving say addition bonus in that capacity), then other cards might be able to add in some way too (like the sneeks can take from opposing land and get you bonus points)... Or Ogres and Orcs might give you higher production of materials. And magic monsters can use their spells to increase value of say coal to convert to diamonds. Lots of potential and very complicated for sure, but mapping each existing individual card to be able to contribute in the expansion would be really really cool... and of course add value and depth in the process!
Yes that is very cool! The possibilities seem endless, and I hope with SL becoming more mainstream, more people start developing third-party apps to create more uses as well!
This is a great post! Nice job! I have been trying to save for lands forever but I always end up spending the DEC , LOL!!!
Lol yeah I always gotta grab those 0.40 cent booster packs with the DEC 🤘😝
Very nice ideas! I like Mario, that would be cool! Have a great season-ending! ~@clove71
Oh yeah super fun...the wife and I had to play last night! 😆😁 Thank you 🙏
